    I haven't heard of those, but I'm also a fan of Australian TV. I can recommend two sitcoms: "Kath and Kim" is an absolute classic with multiple seasons and a couple of spin-off films. It was such a big deal in its time that Kylie made a guest appearance on it. More recently there is "Fisk" which is about a probate lawyer. "Fisk" is very much in the old-fashioned British sitcom mould, having only a small number of episodes per season, and has some great characters. For drama I very much enjoyed "Territory" which is set on a huge and failing cattle station. All of these are on Netflix.

      I don't really watch live TV any more. I can always find something interesting on the streaming platforms.
      I agree about the wildlife programs. I hate the fake audio (you can't convince me you captured the sound of an ant licking his lips). And then there's always the doom laden messages about the environment and habitat decline - I know they're true and important but I don't watch TV to get depressed.

        We're currently watching Fake on ITVX. Aussie, so we hesitated before taking the plunge, but it's quite good!

        There is a film on iplayer at the moment called Close. It is one of the best moving things I have ever seen and the actors, young teens and adults, are all excellent. It is set in Belgium and has subtitles in English.

        It is extremely sad, so best to check the content before watching, in case the theme has particular resonance. Eek, that is almost a trigger warning! :hate-shocked: Necessary in this case, as not everyone would find the subject matter "entertaining". I have the dvd and have watched it a couple of times.

          I can't tell you how offensive I found that when I heard people say it @Tinkerton. I've blocked someone on this forum who made similar comments about Scottish accents.
          Funny how we can manage to understand English, Irish and Welsh accents...
          It's not the same since Dougie left though.

          I love David Mitchell. The Shakespeare p*ss take [Upstart Crow] is great fun, and the snooker commentators sketches with Robert Webb in their 'That Mitchell and Webb Look' series were superb.
          I fall asleep by about 9pm, so I rarely see anything live, I mostly watch things on catch up or that I've recorded.
          I like Blue Lights, which is back on for 3rd [?] series. The previous series are available on catch up services. How on earth do I manage to understand those N. Ireland accents though...

            I liked Upstart Crow too. :blue thumb:

            The episode in which Shakespeare's young son, Hamnet, died was incredibly moving.

            This quote, from the play King John, was used in the episode as it is widely thought Shakespeare was referring to his own experience of losing his son. Unutterably sad!

            Must agree with you, @fairygirl , re the Scottish accent 'difficulty' some people seem to affect. I've noticed the same problem for them with some of the 'Beechgrove' presenters, too.
            But yes, agree, not the same since Jimmy Perez left, is it? Ann Cleeves has written a new book, having moved Perez to the Orkney Isles, and has said she'd be happy to talk to any television company willing to take it on....so who knows? We might be in luck! Although if some folk can't deal with the Shetland dialect, I'm not sure how they'd tackle the Orcadian ones :heehee:

            Yes, I'd read that @Tinkerton , re the new books, but I doubt Dougie would really want to do it, unfortunately.
            After mentioning Blue Lights, I decided to go back and watch from the start, as both the previous series are still available. I'd forgotten how full on it was!
            Upstart Crow was being repeated recently - can't remember which channel, but probably BBC2.

            I'd recommend the new Mitchell and Web series, but I'll offer a warning about the language. It's not for everyone!

                I fall asleep in front of the TV too @shiney , and unfortunately I sleep more soundly on the settee than I do in my bed!
                I'm going to admit - like Dr. Pimple Popper. I know, I know! :biggrin:
                My younger daughter got me hooked on it [she hates the 'feet' one though - similar idea] and I've carried on watching it. Some of the stories are so sad though - the horrible comments people have to suffer until they get everything fixed. It's fantastic how well she sorts things out.
                I often wonder if there are that many cases of all these cysts and lipomas here in the UK.

                I like Dr Pimple Popper too! I know three chaps with a cyst on their back all on the shoulder blade area. They are a few inches across. One chap got his partner to squeeze the contents out. The other was lucky that his burst before he got to his hospital appointment. The third still has his and hasn't had time to attend to it (typical man problem). I presume the patients on Dr Pimple Popper get their treatment free for being on the programme. Otherwise they would have to pay and may not be able to afford it.

                I think I have lipomas - not that I've ever bothered to consult a doctor on them. But I have lots and lots of lumps, though mostly small enough that they are not noticeable to other people. I've been told my grandmother did too.

                The Extraordinary People series is also very interesting, lots of different conditions featured.

                And my guilty pleasure is 90 Day Fiancee UK, about British people in relationships with partners in far-flung parts of the world. It's a spin-off of the original US series which I don't watch, I think there is more humour and fun in the UK one. It's entertaining and often quite hammy with over-dramatic throwing down of rings etc but can also be touching at times.
