Growing up in Lincolnshire and then living in Essex most years outdoor tomatoes were fine, it was just would they ripen well or was it green tomato chutney again.

In Glasgow I do have success with those new blight resistant ones. Don't bother with any other types now, last time I tried some early bush varieties outside and they got blight end of June.

June! I think that would be just too dispiriting for me, Hanglow. I like the open-pollinated heirlooms but I couldn't grow them in Glasgow, obviously. I would have to adapt if I wanted to grow toms at all.

I see many interesting varieties on offer, but I was soo greedy in 2023, I acquired tens of varieties, still need a few years to try them all...

You and NigelJ have got me going now. I have just checked Hutton Blight Spy and see that I'm in that tiny Midlands area shown as a 'Near Miss'. I'll keep everything crossed and a close eye on my outside plants.

Thanks a lot for the prompt. I am only interested in early and mid-season vine varieties, so unless there is a wider range than you posted on 23rd September, then I am happy. Thanks again.

I have many more varieties, Fred. Could you tell me the fruit size you prefer and whether you would like cherry/salad/snacking textures or paste types? I'm sure I could find another couple of suitable ones for you. K

Screenshot_20251023-095647.png This is a screenshot of the varieties I offered last year. I still have small amounts of some of them. I think Lost Marbles was an off-type/unstable so maybe avoid that. The Haley's varieties are definitely late season.

          I thought
Thank you so much for coming back to me. I had missed that list and would like to accept, please. I usually go for salad-size to LARGE in vining heritage types with a great taste. So, having done some research, can I go for Haley's Sweet Mystery/ Reinhart Kraft's Purple Sugar/ Haley's Purple Comet/ and Gobstopper, please? Thanks again.

Okay, I've been for a rummage for you.

I'm all out of H's Purple Comet, but I've packed you some Gobstopper, Kraft's P. Sugar and the very last few H's Sweet Mystery.

Gerald's Mystery is a very tasty biggie, if that's your thing and I also have Taiga, which I was given but won't grow due to it being 250 - 400g.

That's brilliant, Kate. I'll be grateful for whatever you want to give me.

Id love to grow more but considering all our fruit has come the last 2 weeks, im still very hesitant with anything not blight resistant
