I have a free version of Outlook, despite having no other dealings with Microsoft. I find the layout a right jumble on their website edition, but I can do the basics through the Mail app on my ipad so I stick to that for the most part. I do need to go into the website and have a good clear out of redundant stuff though. Plusnet's 3 week closure deadline has forced me to do that on their account. I'm not an email hoarder, but daily mail in and out soon adds up.

We use Outlook Express, which is free.

I hear that O2 customers are going to be able to use StarLink, but only for texting, not phone calls? We have dreadful mobile reception here and when 2G goes it will be even worse.

Yes, the mobile reception here is not good. Just like the TV reception.

I’ve spent the whole morning trying to log into the NHS app. It refuses to send my phone the magic six numbers that will confirm that I am who I say I am. Or, at least, my phone is who it says it is. I’ve tried eight times, deleted cookies, tried all kinds of tricks, but it just sits there and humphs at me. :wallbanging:

@Tidemark have you tried turning your phone off and then on again? Mine sometimes doesn't get texts and if I do this they all come through at once.

The NHS app must have been designed to replicate the difficulty of getting past a surgery receptionist. ;)

@cactus_girl - I believe StarLink is very reliable - but it's owned by Elon Musk. So that's a no from me.

My gripe is with Yahoo. My whole family has (first name)@(surname).me.co.uk email addresses, set up years ago by our techy son, and they've worked well; however, now we're unable to email anyone with a Yahoo email address. Messages are returned labelled "Unable to deliver"; as apparently Yahoo doesn't trust our addresses... This is a particular problem because we run a holiday cottage which uses the same format for the email address - so we have to remember to use the extra gmail account we've opened to cope with this, to reply to anyone who contacts us using Yahoo.

Agree about STarlink @Liriodendron. I've also asked OH to make sure our Amazon prime gets cancelled when it is next due to be renewed. I signed up for it "by accident" a few years ago and it has proved a good deal having free P&P but I don't approve of Bezos so we'll find other suppliers.

Just had to tip away 4 pints of milk because it gone off. use by date till 2 Nov, open it this morning and i smelt that smell tis off
This has been happening for a good year but it's usally a bottle that is open that starts to go off, so an unopen one makes me think they relabbling the bottle and passing the waste on to the customer :nonofinger:

I do the same with eggs @Jiffy but I never buy pasteurised milk in France as it's so unreliable. Same in Belgium when we lived there so we've been on UHT semi-skimmed milk for 34 years. Fine for me as I only use it in cooking and baking but the cats, quite rightly, won't go near it so they get thin, 12% sterilised cream and like it.

Sometimes my mobile will not receive texts for those 6 digit codes. So I have to go into settings and change the network provider to one that will not work and then change it back again. It's like getting a better connection. This always does the trick. It's been OK recently. This is my 2G phone. Maybe 2G is getting a weaker signal sometimes.
