Why do you think we employ people like James Bond.

I thought this worthy of an update, if that is actually the right word to use. My niece referred herself for physio at our local hospital and had an appointment earlier today. Because she is unable to sit, she had to stand on the bus. The bus stopped suddenly, jerking her back, and she is now in pain standing as well as when sitting. The physio said she was in so much pain she was unable to examine her and she would need to see a doctor. Unfortunately the only doctor the physio can refer her to is her GP who has been as much use as a chocolate teapot so far. Basically she is back to square one after 6 weeks of being in agony.

Nightmare, @KT53. As someone who has avoided sitting unless it is absolutely necessary for nearly a decade, she has my sympathy. GPs have very few solutions for this type of thing, but until she knows what is actually wrong, she can't proceed.

Snap @Jiffy we had yet another call about the Smart meter. We put our reading in every month and pay for what we use. However, they will keep saying they are legally obliged to fit a Smart Meter due to our old meter but oddly enough they seem unaware ( or unwilling to accept ) that "non smart" digital meters are still available for installation. We have been getting emails, letters and phone calls about this for 3 years now.

Had two smart meters fitted last week, I'll let you know how things go.:roflol:
Apparently they are sending readings every 30 minutes, I can alter it if I like by going to the BG website.

The installer left a check list, all filled in, half of what was on it he hadn't done and he said let the silly gadget bit load up for about three days and then unplug it and chuck it an a cupboard.
Which I have done, you need a degree in computing to get any sense out of it IMO.

Reeves is lucky to have some free heat at this time of year

Just to be serious, do these people pay anything - rent or utility bills etc. when they move into Downing Street addresses ? They let out their own residencies for a fair bit so no expenses on that score.

Mmm - someone else who eventually had a Smart meter fitted mentioned about a "bit" that came with it went in a bin - not sure what it did ( or didn't do ) tho.
Be interesting to know what advantages you find @pete

The first hearing will be on the 1st of December. The actual trial probably in March. That’s inside the normal time frame.
The trials that were done days later after it happened are known in dictatorships in the 20th century.
Western Europe has got a system of how people are brought to court. I’m glad that our legislature, judiciary and executive follow the rules.

Vice president to George W Bush. Great supporter of Iraq war. BBC has him as the top story, ie they spend about 53 mins of every hr covering his demise. Rachel got very lucky frankly.

I realise there is a system, @simone_in_wiltshire. I just think when it suits, they manage to get a wiggle on.

I dont think there are any advantages, not for the consumer anyway, I did have a very ancient electric meter, that was even installed before the ones that worked on a radio signal, it was still working but I thought it was time to bite the bullet.

Its not like you get a lower price when you have them installed so its not surprising half the country cant be bothered.

I had heard the name to be honest, but hardly top story in the UK, again the BBC have got it wrong.

Yeah, depends on your crime regarding how fast the legal system works since the public prosecutor took over running the country.
