I am often puzzled by modern life.

    And then there's this case:

Cimarron Thomas: Online killer 'robbed us of our granddaughter'

13 year old girl groomed online by an Irish man, shot herself with the family's legally owned firearm. I saw lots of condemnation of the groomer's actions, quite rightly, but no-one seemed to express any surprise that a 13 year old girl had access to a loaded gun.

So what if she had just jumped off the tall building like the first two, if you want to kill yourself its very easy. Not mentally but the action of doing it.

If you are serious, you dont need a gun.

OK, but maybe if someone who was in charge of that train had had a gun then they could have done something, someone trained to use it of course.

Must say I've not heard of Americans saying this, maybe I look at different social media, infact I've not seen anything about it.
I don't use any other than facebook.

After WWII my father was “demobbed” from the air raid warden service but nobody asked him to hand in his pistol. So he kept it. In his wardrobe. When I was about six I found it and went round the house waving it about, pretending I was a cowboy. My mother walked him down to the nearest police station and forced him to hand it in.

Back when I was at university it was easier to jump off a tall building. These days safety measures are put in place - windows that don't open far, bars etc - because we want to prevent people doing something in a moment of madness. That boy who forgot to turn in his paper - a few hours later he would have got over it, people would have talked him around, he would have seen it wasn't so serious. And then his girlfriend would have had no reason to die either.

That was Tony Martin and he died earlier this year. It was quite a big case around here and he killed a 16 year old burglar in 1999, was convicted of murder but later down growled to manslaughter.

I’ve never understood Gormley’s work. Why are those “people” wading into the sea? And the angel of the north with its aeroplane wings just leaves me cold.

              @Tidemark
Are you supposed to understand it? Perhaps you are supposed to interpret it and what it means to you. Other people may well have a different interpretation; as none of the figures are depicted as being in the process of walking perhaps they are just stood watching the ever changing seascape while slowly being changed by it.
Do you understand the Mona Lisa?

I was merely expressing my opinion. I’ll shut up.

When this was installed elsewhere the police got overly excited as people had rung in about potential snipers on tall buildings.

Why surely your interpretation is as valid as the next persons. Isn't it part of the purpose of art to promote debate and discussion.

Must admit I've always liked the Angel of the North @Tidemark .......... as a Northerner myself , I like to think of it as a somewhat tongue in cheek warning to London and the SE not to push their luck

Is there something in antihistamine tablets that I dont know about?
I was in morrisons this morning looking for a nose spray, when this hooded individual looking like a monk from ancient times suddenly grabbed about 6 packets of 30 per pack cheap tablets, morrisons own, lotriderm I think they are.

Can you get high on this stuff?

Depends if they're the sleep kind or not @pete

Here, bizarrely, I can get the sleepy kind form the pharmacy but need a prescription for the non drowsy ones which I use during itchy bites season and not because I have asthma or hay fever or other allergies.
