Oh yes he has a worthwhile cause in mind the Trump 2028 Presidential campaign fund.
However fortunately for all you licence fee payers his case is decidedly flakey, the offending programme was not widely available in the US and he obviously suffered no damage due to it as he still won the Presidential election, his character cannot be blackened any further and the BBC edit did keep the words in the right order, unlike Eric Morcambe and the Grieg piano concerto "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order".

That was a great comedy sketch! :dbgrtmb:

I'd say the case against the BBC is strong. A speech was deliberately edited in such a way as to change the meaning. That's false reporting. Does that make it a legal challenge Trump can win against them? Well, US lawyers are pretty tenacious. He may not get all the damages he wants, or these might be reduced on appeal, but if I were in charge of the BBC's petty cash box, I'd expect some sort of raid on its contents.

Same story here. Family-in-law, he used to be a toolmaker with own workshop for over 60 years. In their 80’s they had to move into a bungalow and he had to give up working and workshop at the age of 82.
Not knowing what to do all day, he started watching GB News all the time and has fallen into serious depression.

@pete This is not about a programme or two that were edited with a certain intention. They want to destroy the BBC.

If you can’t imagine what that means, I can help you.
          - ITV will be sold to an American company
          - Reform will be elected and they will cancel the contract with the BBC
          - Channel 4 will be sold to similar company following rumours
          - Sky News is also going to be sold soon
          - Living from subscriptions will never allow the BBC to have such variety of programmes and news from around the world
          - Freeview will be turned off and everyone is forced either to stop watching telly or to watch telly via Sky, Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV. Instead of paying £14 a month, you have to pay more than £40 and don’t even get what you used to get for £15.
          - once all channels are in foreign hands, there will be no British channel left apart from GB News

That’s what they want. In 2027!

Trump stopped several USA Broadcasts companies from receiving taxpayers funding a few months back.

Over here we make it a habit to watch a few different News stations to just see what slant each one has on issues, or what they leave out, or what they lie/twist about. We both try to find the truth. And I stopped Netflix recently, have only one streaming, and we have "cable" for our Television.

I think you worry too much about what I'm watching instead of what you are watching.

You have your opinion and others have theirs, just because it doesn't fit with yours they are obviously wrong.:rolleyespink:

I assume you have inside information regarding this well laid out plan.

Never heard of GB News until posters have mentioned it.

@simone_in_wiltshire I wasn't aware that Reform or any other British political party had a contract with the BBC. What exactly does the contract consist of ? Or do you just mean that if Reform win an election, they will outlaw the current license fee ?

@redstar Did Fox News ever receive taxpayer funding or is it a totally private owned outlet ? I gather it is also extremely biased in a lot of it's content and deserves as much examination as does the BBC. It's good that you are apparently no different to others in looking at/listening to various media outlets but what makes you actually decide what is genuine and what is not ? I tend to take some news stories with a pinch ( or 2 !! ) of salt but until contrary evidence is available , it can be difficult to come to a definite decision.

Is the BBC going to be accused of anti semitism because every news report from Israel/Gaza/West Bank is always prefaced by "Israel does not allow foreign journalists to report from the Gaza Strip " ? Similar to the repetitive warnings that Hamas is a terrorist organisation so could be difficult to say where the "bias" lays in those instances. OTOH, the constant warnings that scenes of war/criminal acts and so on may be distressing suggests that the majority of viewers are assumed to be totally stupid.

The BBC does have a case to answer but so do many other outlets.

I think everyone should look at different news channels, if only just to discount their content if its slanted too much in one direction, or it doesn't fit your view.
I cant see how you can have a proper opinion if you don't also watch some of the stuff you don't agree with.

I always remember people years ago always buying the same newspaper all the time because of its political views matching their own.
News papers have always, and still are pretty dodgy regarding the truth.

I always read The Times as it seems fairly well balanced.

you say this as you compare the wrong information you heard from BBC for years, but you did not know it was wrong, but the wrong information is now deep in your mind will take years to correct it.

It is and I used to read it regularly, these days it's too expensive for regular reading.
It's more balanced than either the Torygraph or the Grauniad also the puzzles are better.
Private Eye is more fun though.

@redstar Just out of interest how many hours of BBC TV news do you watch a month to be able to judge it's truthfulness or otherwise.

It is recorded fact that Comcast has contributed to the funding of that ballroom at the White House. They just happen to own NBC so are, in effect, bribing Trump for continued access as he has banned reporters from news agencies he doesn't like. You know, the objective, truthful ones or those he considers too socialist, which is why he's withdrawn funding from public boradcast services and even Sesame Street because it teaches children not to be fascist but to be considerate of others with differences.

I really don't understand why Panorama felt the need to edit Trump. He needs no help at all to appear stupid, nasty, disloyal, untruthful, greedy and corrupt.

Where do you see I am judging it????? Nope, you will not find that anywhere, do not twist things. They said the information was wrong, I never said it was wrong but I never said it was correct either.

Anyway, heard Russia is after the BBC now for other false information.
