On a low setting, it's also handy for drying paint on glass.

I used one recently to dry out sofa cushions. Have never used it on my actual hair, which is short and dries itself without intervention.

I changed medication for osteoporosis this week. My hair has been falling out in handfulls, and the pill I'd been taking for several years reports more than 10% of users have hair loss, so I thought a change to a different treatment would be worth a try. But among the list as long as your arm of possible side effects of the new medication (some of which are quite scary) is - of course - hair loss...

A hairdryer is also useful for getting a barbecue going quickly and well.

Keep seeing adverts for something called Freely TV.
Looking into it, can someone point out which bit is free.

I've been getting Prolia shots every six months for about 10 years and my doctor and I decided to skip the last one to see if it makes any difference in my bone density. Apparently it's half life is short enough that changes after stopping show up within months. On Wednesday I get the results of my follow-up bone mineral density test.

One thing I can say is that if I need to start the shots again, I won't hesitate because I've had zero side effects after all these years. I only want to try discontinuing it because my doctor moved over an hour away and if I can cut down trips, I will.

Prolia is my new med, @CanadianLori . Fingers crossed I have no side effects either... it's supposed to be very good.

Yes, but you move it nearer or further away depending on how much more air is needed to get it burning well enough but you don't want to get hot ash flying around. It's surprising how quickly it can get charcoal burning.

If only it were. ;) Actually I have been researching this very topic as, if I am going to carry on paying the TV licence, Freely would give me more value for money as currently I only have 3 channels - BBC 1, 2 and News24. There is a new Freely box (called a Pleio) so I would not need a smart TV, but it is only available currently from Amazon, which I boycott on ethical grounds. Am also not sure my broadband speed would be adequate.

I use free view at the moment, it's actually free, but doesn't avoid you needing a licence.
I don't think you need a smart tv to get free view so I'm wondering why you only have 3 channels.

Agree, all basic tellies you've been able to buy for years now support freeview. I have an ancient Toshiba that has it built in, though I don't use it any more.
I believe freeview is going to be superceded by Freely.
I guess what they mean by Freely being free is that you don't pay a subscription fee; once you've bought whatever hardware you need to support it, that's it.

So if they phase out free view and you don't buy the freely box, I'm wondering where that leaves you.
Back in three dark ages I assume.

I'm worried about all this dependantcy on online, ATM I get my tv via an aerial.

Don't worry, Freeview's going to continue until at least 2034.
