When those leaving are well educated and have funds to support themselves, they wouldn't be allowed into most other countries otherwise, and many of those coming in are neither well educated nor able to support themselves, I think we have good reason to be concerned.

If you are poor, you don't have influence or a platform.

Religions are authoritarian regimes, so these have that in common with the end point of elite liberalism which is to shape the world to their own ends, regardless of the views of the masses, using their money to bypass the democratic process.

I don't think the liberal elite should shut up, but they should have no more voice than anyone else.

A possible definition of the liberal elite - a group of people who have had the benefit of wealth and a privileged education, who believe they know what is best for the rest of the population. This, despite never having the experiences of the rest of the population.
Formerly know as 'upper class twits'.

I met many "upper class twits" when I was at university and the vast majority were not in any way liberal, they were Conservative with a capital C.

Maybe you mean people like me, working-class who are old enough to have had a grant for university education (so privileged in that sense), worked hard to get there and to build a reasonably decent career afterwards, worked since finishing university, paid our share of tax, NI etc, lived within our means and saved carefully for our own future and not had any benefits other than short periods of Jobseekers (or it's predecessors) after being made redundant?

I have a friend who could trace their family back to the court of Charlemagne and one relative was Master of Horse at the court Marie Therese.
Curious thing was that since Charlemagne it has been a matriarchy with a succession of strong women being married by wealthy men seeking rank.

                    Every revolution starts somewhere.
Also the aim of the right, which many religions also support.

A good reason; I rather like the idea of female vicars and think they should be encouraged.

We used to ship them out by the hundred to rule the Empire, whats the difference; a lot come back.
Also in the early 20th century UK science and medicine benefited a lot from Antipodeans coming here.

No @JennyJB I do not mean people like yourself. I mean those who have come from totally privileged backgrounds, with no real understanding of those who have had to work hard to get where they are. That doesn't stop them preaching to other about how they should think and/or act. Just one example of sorts was the Finance Director at one company I worked for. She overheard one of her staff saying she wouldn't be able to afford childcare for another child. Her response was that she should get a live in nanny, as they were always there and life would be so much easier. Disconnected from the world of her staff or what?
