A roller coaster day. We needed to look through photo albums to find some specific ones to send to a friend. Of course we had to go through them all until we found them not in an album but still in the packets (ran out of albums???).
    Why a roller coaster?
Well so many lovely memories of places and things we had done over the decades with our 2 sons and friends.
Then the younger son died 2 years ago so that was hard but also lovely to see him always smiling.
It was also interesting to see that the quality of the photos seem to stay better when they were still in the packets as against those that were in albums.

Eventually managed to buy some stamps for the cards. Then back home put together a hamper for some friends coming tomorrow. The hamper is all from our garden, whether fruit or veg and made into bottled/pickled/chutney/jam. This year also harvested some turmeric which we have been growing in the garden room for a few years. Thought that the rhizomes weren't very big but then earlier this week saw some in a supermarket and ours actually are brilliant. So 3 rhizomes added to the hamper with a written warning to wear gloves when grating them.

I'm sewing more pajama sets for Christmas presents and later my son will be bringing my autistic grandson over for our usual Friday afternoon visit. Max loves those mini powdered donuts but unfortunately they had none at the shops today so he is getting chocolate cookies instead. Probably a good thing as he usually has dark coloured clothes on at this time of year that highlight the powdered sugar fingerprints! He is in his 20's but is profoundly autistic and non verbal and will always be a lovely young child.

heavy rain this am so patchwork homework then lunch before going to get our Covid jabs and do the weekly shop. We usually do it on a Thursday or Friday morning and will certainl not be repeating a Friday pm shop. The place was heaving and half of them can't drive their shopping trollies.

Home in more pouring rain so a quick visit to the chooks with treats then more sewing. Now to make tartiflette for a comforting dinner.

I have never like donuts of any kind @CanadianLori but do love a good chocolate chip biscuit, preferably home-made.

Well a lovely time with our friends this morning and handing over the garden hamper. Weather awful so glad that they came and we caught up with all sorts of news. We swop books as well so good to have different ones to read.

Very soggy out there so, after checking on the new chooks it was patchwork homework for me with photos at every step as I'm teaching beginners.

OH and I went to a line dance class at 4:30 - good fun but the same old problem with the locals complaining to each other how hard it was instead of listening to and watching the teacher to grasp how easy it can be once the steps are understood. We shall go again as it' sjust a monthly thing.

Tomorrow is set to be even worse, weatherwise.

Went for a cycle through Clyde wind farm. Was a fair bit more hilly than my usual cycles through whitelee windfarm. They are the two biggest on shore wind farms in the uk. Weather held, was about 7c and didn't rain at all. I also didn't see a single other person for 3 hours straight which was very pleasant :)

I went to the Art group Christmas dinner in Llandeilo, I didn't feel like going because I am sad about Bella, but I'd only be moping in the house so I decided to go. I had a lift with someone so didn't have to drive there.
Everyone was very sympathetic and I enjoyed myself.
They all had turkey or other meat but meat turns on me so I had fish. It was sea bass and there were two nice big pieces, and it was done to perfection.
And I had Black Forrest Gateaux after it, and it was the size of a doorstep !

When I got home the place felt empty and morbid ...

It sounds like you had a good time despite your misgivings @Michael Hewett. Grief can be a lonely place but you don't always have to be alone.

Far too wet to do anything outside today, so I have spent the morning sewing a pair of mini-gaiters using these instructions:

AdventureLisa: Make your own mini gaiters

I get so fed up of stones in my shoes, especially when there is nowhere to sit and tip them out. I'm hoping these will help. I was able to make them entirely from scraps from other projects, which is always satisfying.

I see the first comment says "Step one - marry someone who can sow". That'd be a gardener then!
