If news ----whatever the subject----does not appear on any of the news channels we watch then I truly do not just have roaming thoughts pop into my head and say to myself----hey let me check on how such and such country is doing with their Post Office. I also don't sit around only watching news channels On occasion I will bring up Michelle Rempel Garner to see what she has to say. If something is newsworthy then it will appear on a few channels.

Back in 1976 in 1 of the big frezze's i used to go out snow clearing, i came across 2 people stuck in a ditch, i pulled them out and ask where they were going, they said they were out looking at the snow driff's, i went and got a digger bucket full of snow and pushed them back in and tipped the bucket of snow by they car and i went on the the blocked road i had to clear, which took me over 7 hours to clear and finnish at midnight which i wouldn't have if i didn't mess around with that car!!!!!!!!!!

The first item of news here lately has been the Formula 1 ecstatic winner and the World Cup Draw ( which included Trump's Peace Prize aka the FFS award ). Hard to believe when people are burning or being bombed to death, drowning in floods or buried by landslides, being murdered on the streets or sprayed with toxic substances when protesting.
Since when was some boy racer driving around in a circle news ? Plenty of them about every day of the year and the noisier the better:wallbanging:

Growing up in OHIO, USA, not unusual for heaps of snow two weeks before Thanksgiving. It is a pain when you shovel the driveway and the snow truck comes by and heaps more at the end of the driveway where you just finished. These days I am lucky to have an awesome neighbor who lives next door with a snow blower machine, he will come over and clear my driveway . But the area I live in now does not get much snow. Just gets really cold.

I’m often surprised by what is the number one headline in the news these days, @Philippa, but in some ways, it’s nice to have something celebratory for a change. OH was very happy that Verstappen didn’t get the World Championship again, and technically Norris is quite the local lad, ex Millfield student!
Certainly better than the football nonsense, although maybe that could qualify as a Christmas pantomime, with the Dame being awarded the Taking the ‘pease’ prize.
I do have to ration my news reading these days, so very depressing.

I dont follow formula 1, but you just sometimes have to take a break from all the doom and gloom, we dont win much these day regarding sport, if you want to call it that.

I'm sure they got right back to the doom and gloom immediately afterwards:)
Although I will admit sometimes they do go on about things at length that are pretty annoying, maybe 5mins max on any one subject would be a good idea.

How about no more than 10 mins reporting on any one story in an hr period. And no more than 2 reports involving war per hr.

Well I think trying to limit the subject matter could be difficult, but I do think they often keep repeating themselves and going over and over things.

I rarely watch the news channel where it all just going over the same stuff all the time.

And I don't think tv programs like strictly come dancing and that one where they're in a jungle, are worthy of a place among the top stories on the BBC national news web page.
That's why I only read the headlines on the computer, it's enough for me.

I think it's a BBC thing of putting their programmes into a news bulletin.

ITV seem to do similar but it's usually in the morning programmes that are part news but part other topics.

It has a more to do with saving the American farmers from the stupid policies that Biden set, or his auto pen. The money helps them get back to an even footing that was taken from them by Biden. Rather my taxes go to Americans than other countries.

Not just the BBC ( radio and TV ) but ITV and Channel 5 as well - both early and late evening bulletins.
The BBC are certainly heading towards commercial content with the amount of repetative advertising they do nowadays - only for their own productions as yet but they are getting almost as bad as the commercial channels.
