I went to my nearest little town yesterday, and decided to have a coffee in a nice cafe before returning home.
As I sat there, a lady went up to the counter, and the waitress said to her "Hi Linda, what are you having today bird ?" .... Bird ! :heehee: I've never heard anyone being called that before :heehee:
Around here they call you 'Boy' or 'Wass' (derived from Gwas - Welsh for servant) or sometimes 'Mate' , and in Swansea they call you 'Doll' :yikes: but I've never heard 'bird' before !

Today our village garden club had a bring and share lunch. Great to catch up with those in the club that as garden visits to each have stopped you don't actually see many. Great lunch.
Then we dropped off some cards and fruits to friends and then went to top up the cider container. A real pity that they are not going to continue making cider or vinegar but the owner gave us an invitation for the garden club to visit the orchards in the Spring when they are in full bloom. We have seen this and it is magical. So will pass the message onto the committee. We believe that their apples will be harvesting by another local cider maker. We did have a great chat with the owner. Lovely man and so down to earth.
