Probably it's the support of apps. Only Android and Apple phones allow you to add extra apps to the phone, and to install apps not written by the phone manufacturer. With a feature phone you're typically limited to what's on it when you buy it, so it won't support things like bank and payment apps. A feature phone is just a fancy phone, whereas a smart phone is a pocket computer.

OK thanks I didn't know there was a halfway house on these things, can't really see the point but there you go.
I've never heard of a feature phone to be honest.

They existed before smart phones; I had a very nice Nokia Asha before my first smart phone, which had a camera and internet access and a complete physical keyboard like a Blackberry. These days the internet equipped ones are more popular in places like India and Africa due to affordability, toughness and long battery life, and the feature phones offered for sale in the UK typically don't seem to offer any internet functionality.

I owned a pager briefly. I went through a phase of entering lots of competitions and it was a prize in one. Completely useless to me.

The Blackberry got the nickname "Crackberry" because it was supposed to be so addictive. It was just email ... oh those innocent days before smart phones.

For everyone who believes the UK is the only country that ever gets disrupted by snow, here's just a taster of what's going on in the US at the moment:

                    Delta Connection flight DL5052
10:00 am - scheduled departure Charlotte
12:00 pm - scheduled arrival JFK
01:42 pm - actual take off Charlotte
02:53 pm - actual landing JFK
Between 04:38 pm and 05:48 pm - parking at runway 04L @ JFK
06:21 pm - reached gate JFK

Data is from FlightRadar24. Add in the time spent travelling to and from the airports and that's a very long day!
Maybe snow is actually a tricky thing?

I think snow is always disruptive when it happens in places that are not used to it in any quantity.

I thought 3G phones were the first "smart" phones. 3G is soon to be turned off - just had an email from GiffGaff. We can't get 5G here so my phone is a 4G. But reception is poor here as we live in a dip and when 4G is not available my phone will use 3G. So I will get cut off more. OK for phone calls as 2G still available.

I rarely moan as it is not in my nature to complain ... but ...

My computer is driving me nuts. The mouse does not communicate with the toggle, although I have tried several and different ports, so I have to use the pad on the laptop and I am not competent doing that. My P sticks and becomes detached from the computer. I told T'other Half I would pay for a new computer weeks ago so he ordered one yesterday.
He bought me a new one earlier in the year and the top became detached so he took it to fix it and the screen disintegrated so I am using an old one. I get second hand phones and computers ... his is for a hobby, nine is a lifeline. Grrrrr!

Sorry, I shall go away now.
