I always say, the last place you want to be when you are ill is in a hospital.

I'd never mind showing some form of ID at voting or other official settings, by rights I need ID to pick up something I've bought a screwfix so I dont see the problem.

@pete and @KT53 that's exactly why language lessons and general social rules/citizenship classes should be mandatory for immigrants of all ages and sexes.

I remember a huge outcry in Brussels in the 90s because some Muslim men sacrificed a sheep in the gutter of a street for the end of Ramadan. Totally unacceptable and stemming from a recognisable Mulsim male sense of entitlement - not appropriate in a secular country or one with animal welfare regulations.

They have different values and standards than us, but instead of joining our ways they want to impose their ways on us, until they realise that causes tensions it will go on.

In the 70's I met a slaughterman who was happy to kill a sheep and cut it up in his garage any weekend he was free.

If the Government want me to show ID then they can provide a suitable ID card.

@NigelJ Nothing wrong with private slaughtering as long as it is humane and follows rules, including respect and courtesy for the animal and other humans.

Even back then it was illegal on hygiene grounds and I doubt if letting the blood go down the drain even with plenty of water was permitted.
The sheep had probably been nicked the previous day.

Do you drive, you obviously have a passport.

I heard the other day that people with dual nationality were having trouble getting back into the UK because the idiots had gone out without taking their passports.:roflol:

@CanadianLori I understand what you mean by not going where sick people are, but doctors can notice other potential problems during face to face appointments which they will obviously not be able to do on a phone call. I don't know how the phone appointment system works where you are, but all we are told is that somebody will phone you on such and such a date. They won't even indicate if it will be in the morning or afternoon! As such you are really stuck at home until they decide to call, assuming they call at all! My wife was at home all day once waiting and about 6pm got a text message saying "Sorry you missed my call". She didn't miss the call because nobody rang either her mobile or the landline as both record the time of any calls.

Not sure what the issue for Farage is as it seems that you can be accompanied into a voting booth and I don’t think those who were supposedly doing it were likely to be Reform voters.

                            https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/ways-vote/voting-person

                            It states

                            "Asking for help

If you're not sure what to do, or need any help, just ask the staff at the polling station – they will be happy to assist you to cast your vote.

There are a number of things at the polling station to help you cast your vote, including a large print sample ballot paper, and a tactile voting device to help if you have a visual impairment.

If you want to, you can take your phone into the polling booth to use magnifier or text-to-speech apps, or the phone torch to improve lighting. When using your phone, don’t take any photos inside the polling station.

You can ask polling station staff for help, or you can bring someone with you. Anyone over the age of 18 can come with you to help you cast your vote. They don’t need to be eligible to vote in that election."
