My mother wanted her ashes scattered at a nature reserve she enjoyed visiting. They agreed so long as only in the dog access area as human/animal ashes can alter the nutrient balance in the soil.

I hear Donald is "disappointed" with Keir Starmer, how long before he is "very unhappy" with Keir and the Israelis deliver a missile to Number 10 thereby promoting regime chance.

With even more luck, they will fire a (mis)guided missile and it will finish the Ballroom makeover sooner than planned.

I see that "the white house" has declared that Baron Trump is too tall to do military service!

He is 6'9" so a few inches shorter than a 7' man, David Robinson, a 2 times NBA champion who served in the navy for 2 years.

I'm guessing Keir is not going to be invited over to Congress to receive a standing ovation. ;)

How many presidents or politicians send their children into battle? They send ours, but never theirs.

I see the news that France has sent their Navy to protect our assets in Cyprus because our government(s) have hirpled our Navy so badly we cannot do it ourselves presumably... either that or Keir is still busy accruing splinters in his rear end...

I seem to remember that a certain Mr Mountbatten Winsdor served in Falklands. Of course, his parents weren't in politics do perhaps he doesn't count.

Edit- I just realised- Harry The Spare. Do I see a trend here? :th scifD36:

He barely counts as a man in my view.

Royals have had quite a few of their offspring do a bit of time in the forces, but I suspect that is more about the pretty coloured medals for their pomp and ceremony bit a bit later on... I doubt we'll see the offspring of any current MP's going into battle, that is for sure.

I may have told this story before, apologies.

My cousin's dad died and as he was a keen sailor, they decided to scatter his ashes in the beautiful Turku archipelago.

After the paperwork, they took a bus to Turku, rented a boat, rowed to the loveliest spot they could find, took out the urn and realised it was closed with cross tip screws.

After trying every piece of vaguely flat or cross looking part in their backpacks and the boat, they decided not to scatter the ashes, but to drop the entire urn in to rest forever in the bottom of the sea.

They said beautiful words, cried a bit, and dropped the urn.

In case you are not aware, urns float.

On the bus trip back home the young daughter wondered in a clear voice wether Grandad was still floating, or if he had sunk to the bottom already.

My cousin, telling the story, put it quite nicely when she declared it was the first and the last time she tries to get rid of her Father's ashes.

I don't think it is his "manhood" that is in question. Indeed, it seems to be the bit that kicked off his troubles. ;)

Charles and William did military service too and, tho, as direct heirs, they weren't allowed near frontline conflicts but they both qualified as pilots and William did 2 years as a search and rescue pilot followed by 2 more as a heliciopter ambulance pilot. One at least is not entirely useless.

Harry did get to the frontline in Afghanistan so not always just a spare.

Cyprus has been a full member of the EU since 2004 so it's more a case of France and Germany going to help a fellow EU member state than saying the UK can't defend its own bases. I dare say Trump won't like that either but he already hates Europe and thought he could break it with tariff tantrums. Wrong. They've suspended the latest US/EU trade agreement till he stops being silly. That'll be a while then.

As for Putin, he has declared that an unprovoked attack by the US and Israel on sovereign state Iran is illegal - a very black pot adressing a kettle - but he's also told some of the Arab oil states he will relay their concerns about Iran strikes to Iran. That'll help.

It's fairly obvious now why trumpy wanted Venezuelan oil on tap, even tho it's poor quality and needs specialist refineries.

UK considers sending Royal Navy warship to Cyprus

"UK considers sending Royal Navy warship to Cyprus"

Considers!!!!!!! It's a UK base which has been attacked. UK families which have been evacuated. But this Government is only considering sending a warship.
France and Greece have already committed ships with anti-missile armaments. Being be the French in committing to protect our own people shows just how gutless Starmer and his shower really are.

@Obelix-Vendée We must all be wrong about Trump. After all he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. He said so himself so it must be true. As the line in the old song 'Star Trekking' said "We come in peace, shoot to kill"

Wasn't Puting getting a lot of his drones from Iran?
I assume Iran will want to keep any they make now.
