My father ( RAF ) was also stationed in Palestine during Israel's creation as a state. I was never able to get him to tell of his experiences just as he refused to talk about his time as a crew member of the Lancaster bombers over Germany during WW2.
I also worked for several Jewish companies in my 20's and counted many of them amongst my friends. I'd have to add tho it was usually the ones of my age who were open to different views and didn't push the religious thing.

Just been reading that some BBC radio presenter has been sacked because of his personal conduct. The bit that had my jaw dropping was reading that he had been paid over £300,000 a year. It sounds like the sort of job that thousands of people would be happy to do as a hobby, for no pay at all, and be very capable of doing as well.
Makes me wonder why I wasted so many years in the NHS, treating extraordinarily challenging patients, risking being bitten, hit, or contracting blood borne diseases, for a fraction of that money! And I have continued to pay my licence fee, despite not watching any BBC programmes, for the privilege of OH getting to watch live motor racing on a channel we have to pay extra for. Grrrrrr!

My first thought Scott Mills who he? Not having listened to Radio 2 since before Wogan retired.
£300,000 sounds about the going rate for people like these.

Bringing back a previous topic; hot cross buns, firstly hot cross buns toasted and buttered with cheese and bacon, secondly Red Velvet hot cross buns (whatever Red Velvet is).

Red Velvet is chocolate cake, as far as I can make out.

Scott Mill's behaviour is only "alleged". What happened to innocent until proven? Surely he should be suspended, not summarily dumped? Not that I care about him in particular, but it is the principle that matters.

When I heard that he'd been dropped like a hot potato I thought it must have been something that happened last week, but apparently that's not the case.
I think the BBC are absolutely paranoid these days after Jimmy Savile etc. and more recently Strictly. Sack them first and ask questions afterwards (and pay compensation to them if necessary).

Not to mention Huw Edwards and Gregg Wallace. Seems to me the BBC sometimes believes its own publicity about its "star" turns and fails to check thoroughly before appointing them and again when problems are first reported instead of the long drawn out accusations and denials that have gone on before a wrong 'un is axed.

I don't know what Scott Mills is supposed to have done or when and I don't really feel I need to know but it does seem odd, if not counter to employment laws, to sack someone without a hearing so I hope that's not the case here.

The BBC seem to create these people, as said I dont even know who this bloke is or what he's supposed to have done, but they do seem to set them up on pedestals and then they have a long way to fall.
They have a lot of untouchables in their ranks on stupid money, for what they do, and even they themselves think they are untouchable.

If he has done something criminal, call in the police. If he has offended another member of staff during work hrs, investigate first and then act. If he has done something in his private life (an inappropriate tweet or whatever), agree to part ways.

"Allegedly" should not come into it. He either has or he has not done X or Y.

If the BBC showed Breach of Contract then that's it, "pack your bags, security will see you out"
If the BBC is mistaken then he will turn up in court with a minibus full of "booted and suited" lawyers and extract damages.
