The Eden Project has been heated by geothermal energy for a few years now. It's quite expensive to install.
Also Earth's heat to produce electricity for homes in UK clean energy first both are in Cornwall.
Iceland has done more with geothermal than we have, but the heat source there is closer to the surface.
In theory it's possible to use heat pumps to extract energy from flooded coal and tin mines, but I'm not aware of any projects to do this.

A regular socket, as far as I can tell, though I am the first to admit my understanding of "how to use the sun's rays to boil a kettle" is shaky!

Just been reading about Trumps rant yesterday. It was all recorded and released on one of the big forums, hastily taken down by the White House, but not before it was downloaded by plenty of the press. Wants to stop federal funding for daycare, Medicaid, Medicare etc, because there is a war on! States can raise taxes and pay for it themselves! Bet that is going to go down well with all but the most brain dead of his supporters? Meanwhile his sons are working with a company selling anti missile drones to the gulf states caught up in Iran’s reaction to American bombing. Couldn’t make it up.

A shop in Totnes is offering a free in-store gong bath with every purchase.
So you buy something and then they bang a gong at you.

If the president has encouraged us to go and get our own oil because he can't re-open the strait of Hormuz, has anyone thought that with a lot of his military in the Gulf, it would probably be easier to invade America at moment. We could use Nato because he doesn't want to be part of it anyway.

@pete, if it is in the famed middle aisle of Lidl, it doesn't matter if it works or not, it will sell.

Hegseth has fired the Army chief of staff, and the head of military chaplains. Guess the advice he was getting doesn’t tie in with what he wants to hear, and someone had the nerve to not agree with his ‘crusade’ against the ‘infidels’. I wonder if he has been hitting the booze again? It must be so stressful for an ex chat show host.

OH has just checked and those solar panels are not yet legal in UK, apparently.

Well the US is currently the biggest threat to Nato.

Are Lidl stores selling packets of sun to go with their solar panels ? Or perhaps someone will invent a hat shaped solar panel and everyone will have to wear one the minute they step out of their front door ? Need to carry a battery to store any excess energy ? Possible fire hazard ? Or maybe a danger of being bombed if a person is considered to be generating energy ?
OH mentioned hearing/reading about a woman who filled several plastic bags with petrol and drove off with them in her car boot...........that can't possibly be true..........can it ?

Big difference. The solar panels sold over here have to be plugged into dc powered equipment or an inverter to run a/c. If the new solar panels have incorporated an inverter, that is much easier to use on an individual basis. Back up if there if a power outage but you at least have sunshine. I'd like some of those!
