    Hello again, the sprouts on my Kestrel potatoes have turned black. Is this normal ?

    @dogsbody
    No. Have they got cold? Or it could be sun scorch.
    Where have you put them to sprout.

    I started them in the dark garage then for the last couple of weeks in an unheated bedroom but not in direct sun.

    Sprouts are often dark purple in full sunlight.

    No fraid not, dark purple is a better description of the colour. Apart from the colour the look very firm and healthy. Are the likely to be usable ?

      Dark purple sounds a lot better than black, so long as they stay firm they should be alright to plant.

        Thanks for all your replies. After watching various videos I've decided to go ahead and plant them and keep my fingers crossed.
