I don't think there'll be anything left of my giant pumpkin by then. I was considering microsurgery techniques for the carving part but the slugs might beat me to it:

Hello i'm looking for some advice please, my Pumpkin i posted a picture of on 30th August hasn't grown since then, also it feels lighter when i pick it up than before, my question is......has it stopped growing for good and do i leave it on the plant to turn orange or do i need to cut it off now, while it's still green? Thanks

HI Caz, looking at your pumpkin on the 30th of Aug it looks like the kind they sell as squash in the supermarkets.

I dont think they are expected to get much bigger than yours.

If its in a sunny spot I think I would just leave it and hope we get some sun to ripen it, there is still time.

Well mine is still swelling but much more slowly now, doubt it will get much bigger especially as there is a tiny hint of colour change here and there too, which is not really noticeable in the picture :thumb:

Oh and its no longer attached to the conifer hedge, I had to bring it down to the ground as was getting a little heavy :D

Over the top measurement gives me an estimated weight of 25.8 lb so far.

Have you been putting a blanket on it overnight to keep it warm so it will carry on growing?

Never thought of that, any particular TOG rating.......??? :D 'sorry', seriously though do you think if I covered it with fleece it may start growing again after over a week of no growth or will just be concentrating on ripening now (so to speak)??? :thumb:
