What goodbye present would you give to a childminder worth one million dollars? Also, where would you buy the card? No expenses spared

Hmmmm....i know when i was running my own daycare and i retired, some of the things that i got were, spa gift certificates, gift baskets full of gourmet foods (huge baskets) from a specialty deli, baskets with expensive bath products.

If the child is old enough, what about the child making the card, or help decorate the card....i think somtimes a homemade card means more.

Or a basket with some bottles of wine, include both red and white if you arent sure what the person likes, maybe include some new wine glasses.

Or have you heard this person mention a certain restaurant they wanted to try, give them a dinner out to this place.

      Good luck.

depends on what you are willing to spend ....

Large Yankee candle jars are liked by many, and is good value for money ... you get over 100hrs of fragrance from 1 jar ...

if you do opt for these, bump the thread and I will let you know which flavours are strong (my wife is a Yankee candle addict)

Speaking about candles, I so look forward to be able to use candles again in the evening like they do a lot in Denmark, but right now it is only on occasions, I am too fearful of accidents happening with lively children around.

What flavours would you suggest *dim* ?

        in this order:

        sandalwood
        midnight jasmine
        fresh cut roses
        lavender vanilla
        midsummers night
        bahama breeze
        black cherry

a cheap way to sample these is to buy the wax tarts (they cost approx £1 each)
Wax Tarts | Yankee Candles Store Buy Yankee Candles | Tart Burners | Candles UK

get a tart burner (oil burner) and place the wax tart in the cavity, but make sure that you buy an oil burner with a large dish .... place a tealight candle (not fragranced) in the bottom, and you will have 3-4hrs of fragrance ...
Blue Petal Wax Burner | Yankee Candles Store Buy Yankee Candles | Tart Burners | Candles UK

when you wish to change the tart after the smell is finished, place the wax burner in the deepfreeze for 5 minutes, and the wax disk just pops out

in the UK, many garden centres, homebase and cardies sell yankee candles and accesories

If you're feeling generous, I think Penny's idea of a day's pampering at a spa is a nice one - particularly for someone who runs around after little kids all day.

As far as toiletries go, I love more or less anything from L'Occitaine. The lemon verbena handcream is particularly wonderful.

As you're Italian, I think it would be fantastic to give her something from Italy, if possible. I love all the sweets and deli stuff

As has already been mentioned, homemade cards from children are always lovely.

I think the question that nobody has asked is this: What does the child minder like?

I know some people, while appreciating the gesture, wouldn't go in for baskets of nice things or smelly things, and would really prefer something else instead. It is all about individual personalities.

When we say 'no expense spared', how much is the limit really? Would the budget stretch to a short break somewhere they've always wanted to go but have never been able to justify the expense or time off?

If it was me, I'd like a Ferrari please.

I am more inclined towards a physical good. I know that she doesn't like being in water much and she wouldn't like anything too personal.

She is quite into home life and doesn't drive...

(if you give a car for a present, like a pet or a plant, you are actually giving a work as well, which is to look after it with all expenses connected.
But anyway I wouldn't want to spend more than £ 90 also for a matter of respect towards her, since she is charging very reasonably).

PS and that answers also Ziggy's post....

Sounds like a nice basket full of meats, cheese, wine or sparkling cider, a candle, coffee, teas, maybe some nice towels, and new mug for coffee would be the way to go.
