...does this sound familiar to you?
[...]saturday night, still in your pijama[...]you log on to Facebook and scroll down your friends' updates. "In Ibiza", "in the bar drinking Mojitos" read the posts. This spurs you into action; you start frantically uploading photos from a recent party. After all, you wouldn't want anyone to think your life is less exciting than theirs, would you?
    ---------------------------------------
What you 've just been sucked into is a game of Competitive Social Networking,a side effect of living your life through a Facebook lens.
    ---------------------------------------
[...]says Facebook nearly caused a major rift with her BFF on a trip to India."She drove me mad!" the 27-year-old says. "She spent ages trying to think of funny things to say on Twitter[...]She made me take about 50 shots to make sure I got the perfect one for her profile picture!"
    ----------------------------------------www.company.co.uk

Also, the interaction with others is very delayed and one can actually delete the friendship if not convenient, to make it possible to hear and brag what he/she wants 90% of the time, without any objection.

I personally take the facebook pill in very small doses because the side effects can be too many, and I will keep my offspring away enough for them to discern what is an acceptable amount of social networking.

      Hey Mira,

I only use it to keep in touch with the Ziglets & JWK:heehee:

Even Steve R doesn't go on there more than once a year:WINK1:

GC probably has its own equivalent of that when we all go charging outside to photgraph our Vegetables:D We know we all have a veg orientated social life, but find this cheaper & more pleasant than going down the pub & chatting with non gardeners:heehee:

I am the same, only using it to kind of keep in touch with family and friends. I don't do the games or use it for gossip etc. I will post a few photos, comment on some things, find some long lost friends, that sort of thing.I don'have a massive friend list of people I don't know either. To be honest it's pretty boring. I spend WAY more time on this crazy site!!

You know you've spent too long on Gardeners Corner when the 18 wheel truck that is coming round the corner in the middle of a dream has the legend "Jack McHammocklashing" on the side of it:DOH:

Time to wake up I thought:OUCH:

I check Facebook daily, and only usually post when I'm drunk.

I have regular "Friend Culls", when I go through my "friend" list and delete all those that fail to meet a criteria that I decide on a whim. It is always the ones that aren't really friends that get deleted, just those that 'friended' me because they once knew me and therefore I meet the criteria to be in their 500+ collection. Consequently I have a list of about 30 people that are genuine friends and family.

After a cull, I always post up that its happened, and what criteria I'd chosen.

For example, I once deleted everyone I hadn't had a pint with for more than a year. I deleted a couple who had split up and were using Facebook to tell all and sundry all bad things about each other and how they had moved on and had a fling with such and such, ie trying to make each other jealous. I think the criteria for the next cull is everyone that generates a full page of posts along the lines "such and such needs a bottle to feed their baby giraffe in Fakefarm".

My kids have been trying to get me on Facebook for months. It holds nothing for me, I don't need to find out who was the last person to make a cup of tea! I use windows messenger or skype to stay in touch with nearest and dearest. :)

I prefer to speak to my friends and family in person, over the telephone.
