As you probably know, the sun has been worryingly quiet recently. Output is at a hundred year low & radio emmisions which have been monitored for 60 years have also been at the lowest ever.

The number of sunspots has been declining recently & we really won't know for a few years if its going to go into a hibernation period.

I'm happy to report that the number is increasing but the predicted trend may see a further decline over coming years.

wait till the 27th of this month .... some are predicting 'fireworks' ... something to do with the way the planets and comet elenin align

rumour has it that Obama and the very rich and influentual will be heading to Denver airport just before the 27th .... apparently, there are secret bunkers deep down below the earth at Denver airport, and it's there that they will hide (like rats)

and the current latest news is that stockmarets are in freefall tonight ... some say it has to do with the 27th?

but then again, this is from several conspiracy sites, so make of it what you will

Sorry to dissapoint the conspiracy lot but Comet Elenin didn't fare very well at its perihelion & is breaking up. A lot of small comets get cooked when they go round the Sun.

Whats left of it will not go back past Earth until October 16th & will be 22 million miles away.

I'll comment to your post on the 29th

(I'm never really sure ... I've been reading posts and 'predictions' on several 'conspiracy sites' for several years ...

still waiting for a correct prediction for doom/gloom, but law of averages says it will happen sometime ...

same as the lotto and the euro lotto ... I play every draw ... have not even won a fiver in the last 8 months ...and now I even play the lotto plus 5 ... and still zippo ...

      something has to 'give' soon

Don't buy lotto tickets, buy premium bonds, at least if you don't win them you get your money back.

Zigs not worried about the comet, if he was, you'd be the first to know about it.

Zig is concerned about solar output, the first you will know about how concerned he is will be when my IP address starts with NZ or ESPANIA

          I always enjoy a 'wager'

currently have £10 on south africa to win the rugby world cup ... and fiver on south africa and new zealand to be in the final

south africa won last time, so chances are slim, but makes it more intersting when watching, when money is involved

so far, so good ... 3 wins out of 3 matches

I'm hoping its nice and active next year. I'm hoping to go to Norway or somewhere to see the northern lights. Been waiting for the lad to do a bit of growing first because we didn't want to take him to the arctic circle while he was still just a baby.

Never mind the 27th. You'll need your crash helmets on tomorrow. That's when NASA's busted satellite is due to land anywhere between 57 degrees either side of the equator. Not sure if we fall into that range or not, but I'm strapping a few cushions to my head tomorrow just in case.

I think you have to climb inside the paper bag, and sit under the stairs eating your stockpiled tinned food and listening for announcements on the wireless.
