    Hello,

I moved into my flat in January this year and have no idea what the plants in my garden are so don't know how to look after them.

I have about 12 pics but thought it may asking too much in one go!

Basically, if someone could identify the name of the plant that would be great.
If you know when to prune/how often to water that would be a bonus but I'm sure I can google that.

    A couple of details:

Pic 3 - is prickly to the touch and had blue berry type things growing from it about 6 months ago.

Pic 4 - grows up the fence and has the white flower with the orange looking fruit as well.

Pic 11 - had big purple/pink flowers (or white - I know that sounds silly but I can't remember ) about April/May time.

I love the garden and don't want to ruin it - please help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Jennie

    Welcome to GC jennieh.

Think I can help you with one or two of your plants

Pic 1 Nandina Domestica...I've got one in my front garden. It's a very undemanding little shrub which needs little or no watering once established, survives hard winters and doesn't really need pruning unless it's in the way. Colourful leaves too.
Pic 4 Passion flower Passiflora caerulea...Might need the occasional bit of light pruning in summer if it's getting in the way or smothering other plants. If not, leave it to its own devices and you'll be rewarded with plenty more of those lovely flowers and orange fruits.
Best to check it over in March or April and remove any stems which have died back during the winter.
Pic 3 Mahonia japonica...Lovely fragrant yellow flowers in winter, another one which is quite tolerant of dry conditions too. Not much needed in the way of pruning, just cut out one or two tall stems in spring when it's finished flowering.

Not sure about the other two, but I'm sure someone else will help you out with those. :dbgrtmb:

Hi Jennieh, I agree with Trunky on all above. Not very clear in some pics but 11 could be a peony, especially if it had big flowers earlier in the year.

could you maybe put up a closer pic of 6, or give some more info about it? It looks a bit like an elder, (google Sambucus) ?

Pic 3 looks like Passion flower (Passiflora) to me.

              Hello,

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Trunky - thanks, you have been a big help! Julie - the one you thought was a peony, I googled, and it wasn't a peony but funny enough I was going to put more pics up and one of those was a peony! Also the other one is a sambucus.

I take the point about the pics - the website wouldn't let me put bigger ones up! I will try to do it better with my next post.

Thanks so much for everyone's help!
