    Hiya ClaraLou.

I tend to agree with you. We've all seen Vicky Pollard with her entourage of kids. But in some ways, it's my belief that these 'types' are in the minority. I think that most folks try to do the best they can with what they have. It's a bit like only bad news is good news. One only has to watch the news, it's all bad! No-one wants to hear about the teenager that helped an old person across the road.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are PLENTY of 'spongers' out there.

Main reason being they pay very low wages, ones you cant live on unless you are living in a shed on the farm.
I see lots of east european youngsters around here, they all work on the land in one way or another.
They get bussed into the supermarket to pick up loads of bread, (not sure what they do with it), then back to the farm.
Its not a career, its just a stop gap, a bit like a gap year in Australia for our lot.

They have driven down farm labourers wages year upon year, until a normal bloke with a family cant live on the pittace they pay.

Building is going the same way, all kinds of cowboys are coming here and working for less, most dont know one end of a trowel from the other but they bluff their way through.

Mates of mine who have worked and paid their dues for 40 odd years have been made redundant and end up trying to get by on state handouts.
Trouble with handouts is, you get them even if you have paid in nothing.

Yes, and we still have the Falklands, but should we? I think in some ways we are now paying the price for having all these territories.

They were Welsh bowmen using Welsh longbows, which were about a foot bigger than the English longbow.:dbgrtmb: That is how they killed at such a distance.

a few houses away from me, is a young 'traveller ' family who have recently moved in ....

they have 5 young children .... the house is a 5 bedroom (I think) .... they don't work .... they eat better food than me (I have seen them shopping at Tesco's) .... they wear better clothes than me .... they chainsmoke and smoke cigarettes (I smoke roll ups) .... they both drink cider (I drink beer) ... thats about the only thing I do better

don't know what they get from the state, but it's obviously much more than what I earn, and I work every day (even in the rain and cold)

there are several more in my street who do likewise .... they drink every night in the local pub .... I cannot afford that (think it was 3-4 months ago since I went to the pub ... and that was because I had to meet a prospective client)

            the dole system is wrong

The Falklanders consider themselves British so why shouldn`t we? And as such, give them the support and protection any other part of Britain receives.

Children is the key *dim*, get yourself loads of kids and you have got it made.

A single bloke on the dole might as well shoot himself.
