I believe that there is advanced life on other planets .... and looking at cave paintings from stone age people done hundreds of years ago, and all over the world, they too depicted alien craft and strange things .... and all the paintings depict the same thing?

The bible was written by men. Not people, specifically men. More specifically, men that were politicians although they wont have called themselves such. They'll have called themselves priests or similar. That's why the bible says that god created man in his own image. It means we, the authors, are the closest thing you'll get to god, so do as we say.

Of course, a more liberal interpretation of the claim that god made man in his own image, and one I personally like, is that god is nature, and nature made man in the image of nature.

Back onto the alien claims though, about the technology side of things, I do sort of like the idea but I don't really believe it. It does intrigue my tiny non-boffin mind when I think that until about the 1950s, electronics meant thermionic valves, resisters and capacitors (condensers in old language). Then suddenly along comes the semiconductor, made out of what amounts to refined sand. I don't get how you could accidentally discover that silicon, an excellent insulator, can be made to sometimes be a conductor and sometimes not, simply by adding a few impurities and then ionising it. It seems like a tricky thing to accidentally discover. But there are people who are almost infinitely more clever than me, who will have a very logical explanation for such witchery.

 

Off at a slight tangent now, I know, you're all thinking "Thats unlike Zigs!!"

But some years back I had to clean a Medieval Gargoyle on Ilminster Minster.

It was so covered in organic soil that I doubt anyone had seen it in living memory.

Turned out to be a Dragon, its front wings were very small and triangular, like stabilisers. its back wings were bigger, more reminicent of Concords' wings, even down to the Rectangular Tubular Turbo jet intakes that had been carved on the top of both of them.

Now what had the Medieval Mason seen to make him carve something like that?

I keep a camera in my pocket now, so next time I go to Ilminster, i'll get a shot. Trouble is, the intakes are on the top of the wings and i'm not 5 metres tall:(

While we were working on the Church, I asked one of the Girls if she'd seen the plaque in the Church that comemorated a local Knight. She said she hadn't but seemed interested.

I said that it says he used to go into the forrests and slay Dragons, drag them back with a team of horses & then process them with a huge water powered chopping engine, before distributing the meat to the poor of the parish.

At this point her interest was really getting going.

I said they called him the Ilminster Minster Monster Mincer.

I think she threw her trowel at me.
