Decided I would like have background music around the house, (ordered the kit today) but I thought the best way to store music would be an MP3 thingy (technical term, that is)

Looked at various places and ended up at a well known catalogue shop.
Went to collection point to collect it, bloke picked up this tiny tiny ice cube and said "here you go mate" (not that I knew him) I burst out laughing, I knew it was small, but THAT small.

[IMG] (10p coin to give perspective)

Showed Mrs watergarden, she said that's not an ipod, they all have them at work, you cant plug that in your ears...............................

Have joined Itunes and downloaded several tracks and some albums (Well I hope I have) now going to un box it and see what I have to do.

Question: Have you ever brought something, and despite what the blurb says, its either smaller or much bigger than what you perceived?

Where do you get mp3's from that is not a "dodgy looking site"?

You should be able to rip all your old CDs and load them onto your MP3 player :dbgrtmb:

I bought an iPod nano on ebay and couldn't believe how small it was. I had to get a magnifying glass to get the serial number of the back - obviously not designed for batty old dears with failing eyesight.

The thing I like about Ipods is they're are so very, very beautiful.

That's part of the reason I want background music, I can count on one hand the number of music cd's I have.

I used to have a load of cassettes but as they do over time they got damaged, so I have the radio on a lot, but you can't choose what's being played.

For what its worth I don't have many DVD's again, I had tapes, but they took up so much room, there was no such thing as a VCR to DVD recorder at the time, so I got rid of them. Never watched them much anyway.

So now I have lots of space where tape stands were, and as an ipod is so small, so I thought I would invest in a back ground music system, with everything stored on an ipod.

Be honest, how many music CD's do you have and how many DVD's do you have, but how often do you really play them? no, really how often?

(and I am still looking for more non dodgy mp3 sites)

Mr Kandy's replacement for his 6th generation Ipod Nano is that size but it is a little bit bigger than a 10p piece.:DThe shuffle is even smaller than that but as it was a free replacement for the 1st generation one that was recalled due to some of the batteries catching fire {Not very good Apple:heehee:} he isn't complaining and uses the pedometer every day as well as listening to his music with the headphones he bought sometime back that are a lot lot bigger than his Nano:D

We took his Ipod Touch the the nearest Apple shop this morning and explained to the chap behind the counter that we couldn't get the Face Time bit to work so he had a fiddle with it and while it was ringing was trying to connect to his colleagues Touch when up popped my sisters face so while Mr Kandy was asking more questions about our router and whether we need a more modern one me and my sister were having a good chat to each other although we forgot that we didn't need to talk so loud:D

Back home Mr Kandy tried again to connect and although it failed we got a different message to say Mrs P wasn't is unavailable at the moment so we will try later.:)

I must say all this new technology is really good especially for a ludite like me:heehee:

Ipods scratch really easy, If I were you, I'd buy a case/protective covering to prevent this.

I have never owned an 'I' anything mainly as I prefer quality of sound over looks, cuteness and frills so I have a Sony 16gb mp4 which is at least a quarter of the weight of my previous one, took nearly all my 100+cds. The pods can't touch them for sound but a lot of folk are happy with them.:)
