We have inherited this plant in our office and don't know what it is or what to do with it.

It looks too big for its pot. Should we get a larger pot? Prune it somehow?

    Thanks very much photo.JPG

Is it a Peace Lilly? (Spathiphyllum)

if it is then they like to be about 3-4ft away from a window as they really dislike bright sunlight and they are heavy drinkers so as soon as you spot the foliage start to droop then give it a good top up until next time, they also tend to like a misting if possible although putting it on a small tray of gravel would also work (I used to keep mine above a fish tank :snork:)

as to re-potting I usually did mine every two years but I'd split it as I didn't want it getting to big so a bit for me and then I'd stick the other half on freecycle

hopefully someone will be along in a bit and either confirm or refute my ID:heehee:

    *Edit*

I can see flowers in the back it is a Peace Lilly :dbgrtmb:

Good morning Geomotion and welcome to Gardeners Corner. It seems to like where it is - would probably like some Baby Bio to encourage more flowers. I also think they prefer not to face the sunny outlook. And, my I respectfully suggest a light trim to remove dead or yellowing foliage. You'll be amazed at the difference- it will look very smart,:sign0016:

Yes, it looks a bit pot bound to me. If I were you I would divide it up and remove all the old yellowing leaves and I would stand it in a dish of pebbles and water regularly into the pebbles. They quite like standing in water and yes it is a peace lily.

Yes, definitely a Peace Lily. It should be in a pot that's at least twelve inches across the top to be happy. :)

Keep taking off the yellowing leaves. They're every good plants for offices or any room where there are lots of people as they absorb some of the stale-air gases and keep the room fresh.
