Okay, I know the purple round plant is an Allium, but what's the white flowered annual that appears in my borders ever year????
Hesperis matronalis alba? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hesperis+matronalis+alba&um=1&hl=en&biw=1536&bih=776&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=UXLOT6nOIMKk8QPr7rHlDA
Yes Ziggy! Cruciferae now been renamed Brassicaceae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brassicaceae You id'd it on Trunky's thread this evening!...Dame's Violet. . This is the white form.
I'd almost agree with Silver Surfer's answer...but for one thing, the leaves of the plant in my borders are alternate while the Hesperis=matronalis are opposite. So I'm slightly "at sea" with this one.
I thought it might be, but i'm not up on cultivated flowers. Are they just changing the names to make me go back to college or did they change this one in case it offended Muslims?
