I'm told that the Honey Mango is the commercial Mango of choice in northern California as it handles cool weather better. There is a but though - during the flowering period it needs pretty stable temps of no more than 5°c variance.

the honey mango it`s available only from end of may up to beginning of July...it`s the sweetest fruit I ever tryed , It`s the first time I`ve grown one (3 actually) , considering we had a bad june and july , I`ve only planted mine in june , its done pretty good and it`s completely different from the normal mango , the leaves are longer and deep green.
Long got few spare if you would like to have a go as well.

Way ahead of you - five stones germinated so far Sal!
Had three shoots so far on the first stone too.
          Thanks for the offer though!

If you look closely, you can see that it's pushing another shoot out too. That'll be four from this stone now............

Longk , your mango look like the caribbean I had few years ago , germinate mine in the greenhouse in low light and cold , need to get strong before winter comes.....Ideally the best would to germinate early in the year , but unfortunatly could get any honey mongo untill june , the challenge is not to germinate them but to keep them alive.
still have the pakistany pinapple , i really put my hope in to this , next year i want to try with bread tree.

Accidently - they germinate in the compost heap!

Well mine had a bad summer, got red spider and defoliated, but has a few leaves again now.
Yes out in the garden from May till late October, then back in the porch,(unheated) till next May.

Thedy are quite hardy, but not totally, especially when young, but at the same time not really a house plant, they do like a winter rest in cooler conditions.
