Pretty rose Loli, I like the hint of peach on the outer petals. :)

Good afternoon Loli a truly lovely rose, just a bit of trivia:)

This award winning rose was selected by the Civic Authority in Southampton, to bear the name of the port.

'Southampton' has about 28 apricot petals, which form a very pleasing shape, and are carried in moderate sized clusters, on a tall and spreading bush.
This lovely rose in well regarded for its good colour and vigour, and the fact that it does well in all climates and the blooms are pretty weatherproof and do not fade with age.
The spent blooms should be removed to promote quicker re-blooming.
The healthy foliage is glossy green and disease resistant.
An excellent bedding rose with a good perfume.

        AWARDS
Royal National Rose Society Trial Ground Certificate 1971
        Baden Baden Silver Medal 1973
        Belfast Gold Medal 1974
Royal Horticultural Society Award Of Garden Merit 1993.

My cuttings are not doing too well. I've lost more than half of them, probably cos they've been too wet :dunno: Some are still keeping going so fingers crossed they'll make it through the winter. I'll take more in early summer and try again.

There here!!! Well the first three of nine are. My first roses in twenty years and I'm over the moon. :hapfeet:'Iceberg', 'Ebb Tide' and Lucky which is a lilac pink. :)

I would have liked them all to arrive together as it's going to be hard deciding what is going where. I'll be out there this weekend walking backwards and forwards around the empty bed trying to decide what colour's going where, ohhhhhh the tension! If you don't see me on here for the rest of the weekend, I'll still be out there. :heehee:

Well the roses are in, it took me two hours. :heehee: First I pushed sticks into the new bed to get the layout right and only having the three roses here at the moment it took me ages to plan what was going where. I kept walking backwards and forwards with my list trying to imagine what rose would off-set another. It would be so much easier with one colour! Anyway, the three are in and settled but I have an issue with one that hasn't arrived yet 'Purple Tiger', I'm bothered that it's colours are not going to contrast the others. Hmmmm some serious thought on that one.

I've decided next spring to under plant the roses, the plants I will grow myself and to start I'm going to zig-zag Lavender 'Bush Baby' through the bed. :)

Bet you can't wait to see them when they are flowering :blue thumb:

Whenever I'm planning a layout, I always paste photos next to each other in Excel and then move them around to see which colours work well together.

You're right Merleworld, next summer is going to be a long time coming!

I had thought of something like that, but I've studied the colours of the roses so many times now they're fixed in my brain. :heehee:
