How would this plan of buying some woodland work?

We'd have to have some sort of shared ownership scheme, because land is expensive.

I wonder how many people would be interested (potentially) and what the legalities would be.

I looked at some of the plots for sale, and lets say we were to say £40k for 5 acres. If 25 of us went for an equal split, owning a 4% share each, that would cost us each £1600, which would be a sound investment and within reach to most I guess. Or if 100 of us chipped in with equal shares, it would be just £400 each.

Or another potential way to do it would be to set up a scheme under the banner of GC or a private limited company, raise the money through that (by selling private shares) so that the 'investors' don't own the land as such, but own shares in the legal entity that owns the land and therefore still owns a share of the value.

I'm not a legal expert, but its just some ideas I had.

There is a wood near me that is managed as a Trust. I'll have a look into how that works.

Currently doing an experiment with a wet bit of 6" by 4" stuffed up the chimney with a low fire on in the woodburner. Want to see how much better it burns (if its still there in the morning)

Also been thinking what other products can come from woodlands.

Wildflower plants & seeds (although need to check about the legal side of native Bluebells)

Leafmold (if the setup was right, could also import swept leaves from local council/gardening firms)

        Hiring areas out to paintballers.

        Holding woodcraft courses.

Build a Teepee, hang North American Native stuff all around, put on a CD of chanting & let that out to hippies.

        Breeding Wild Boar.

        Just a few thoughts.

I believe that tax break has been closed after Terry Wogan and all his ilk raped the system in the 80's

Terry Wogan had an Ilk? Did he keep it in his woods?
