China the copycat, or simple design common sense?

There's an article on the beeb today about China showing off their new fighter jet, all designed and built entirely in China.

To my very, very inexpert eye, their's looks quite a lot like the Eurofighter Typhoon. Is this plagiarism or simple engineering common sense?

I see what you mean. There are only so many shapes you can build a fighter jet though.

I remember the Russians "borrowing" the plans for Concord. That ended in disaster when their Concordiski exploded. No one told them it wouldn't run on Vodka.

 

The Chinese version looks slightly bigger, I might be wrong.

Its a bit like cars these days, most look alike to me.

The Chinese version will be great in theory, but about 10% of them will already be defective before they even leave the factory, and of the remaining ones, two thirds will be broken within a year.

 

And probably the box they come in will be more fun to fly.

 

I bought a Chinese lemon squeezer once.

 

Dont tell me, everyone took the pith out of it.

 

First time I squeezed a lemon on it, the plastic disolved into long stringy sticky strands.

 

Zigs, he's completely off his 'noodle'

 

And will the box state (as is tradition): "Batteries not included"

 

Or "Home assembly required, tools not supplied".
