Why do we do it? I finally got round to cleaning my oven today, having put off doing so for weeks and weeks. In fact, I am ashamed to admit that I actually don't know when it was last properly cleaned. And despite the claims on Mr Muscle's tin stating 'no more scrubbing' (yeah, right!) it took a good couple of hour of hard graft to get it properly cleaned; sure, it probably doesn't help that I am somewhat OCD once I get started, and anything less than looking like new wouldn't be acceptable, but I remain convinced that it wouldn't have been just as bad if only I hadn't kept putting the job off.
top tip here for you when you finish cooking turn off cooker and spray with any cleaner ( lemon and water works well ) leave to soak while dishing up then as the food goes to the table just give the oven a quick wipe over and the wire grills ( should never have to do a BIG scrub again ) 20 years catering experience lol i have have cleaned some manc ovens in my time, but never in MY kitchen lol
Thanks Kaz I must admit that I was mortified by the state of ours today (although in the grand scheme of things it probably wasn't as bad as many); I've never had an oven just as bad though, mainly because I do usually keep more on top of them. I do wonder if it being an electric fan oven has any bearing on things too (fan blowing stuff around?) - I am used to gas ovens?
this works as well in the microwave too and if you have something splatter the mic just place bowl of water and lemon juice and cook on two mins then then just wipe X
i like gas better and electric ovens do send to grease up more on and the exposed elements do make it trickier to clean
