Coldest Easter since records began! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/9
    963649/Coldest-Easter-on-record.html

I was at Homebase yesterday and despite being a '15% off Day' it was deserted with nobody outside looking at gardening stuff, nor indoors buying lawnmowers, garden furniture, BBQs, etc.

It's traditional round here to plant seed spuds at Easter, but the ground was frozen solid this morning and I would have needed a crowbar to get them in.

Go back in a few days, Scrungee - that 15% off will be 50% off because they will need to shift their stock ;)

I keep getting email alerts from GoOutdoors informing me of ever increasing discounts on tents combined with continually extended deadlines to purchase them. I guess camping stuff is not selling well at the moment.

P.S. When I went to Homebase my car thermometer was reading 6degC and they had cucumber and tomato plants outdoors turning black.

Oh I really hope so, I'm really depressed at the moment as I feel like all my plans and dreams are dissipating :cry3:

even though warmer, it'll still be well below the seasonal average, by the looks of it! So don't expect any trees bursting into Spring growth anytime soon!! At least were getting out of these very cold, easterly regime.. only to be replaced by a cold northerly one instead :snork:

Where are you getting that from Stephen?:)

Met office are saying temperatures near normal but more unsettled after mid April.

That's on the weekend Pete, a long fetch northerly from the Arctic.

I refuse to be tricked by the models, which have showed a move away from cold a week ago, before piling on more misery.. so, for now, I'll probably remain cautious about any warm up...

Ok, I think we are talking about a different time scale.
But at least the warmer air seems to be making some in roads.
I see the plunge of cold air goes right down to southern Spain.
