Got sent home

Its quite a novelty. Only once before have I been sent home from work, and that was when I was very, very poorly with a random kidney infection.

I've been feeling generally lurgied for the last few days. Nothing at all serious, just a cold I think. Boss told me yesterday not to come in if I feel rough, but I went in anyway. She tried to send me home but we're down a few staff due to sickness at the moment and there's loads of work on. I knew the boss would simply try to do it all herself, and end up working til late then up at dawn tomorrow, so I refused to go until I'd got some of the urgent stuff out. The instant I declared a piece of work complete, she said 'right, home now, get your feet up, and tell your wife to bring you lots of hot drinks'.

So here I am. You don't get many bosses like that these days

Lemsips & Rum, but not at the same time

 

I'm glad to know your boss knows your worth....you take it easy and get better soon...but don't milk it

 

I'd enjoy a nice rum or brandy or even maybe whisky, but I don't think it would help in this case. For some reason I seem to have swapped snot for extra helpings of fuzzy head and mushy limbs. When the snot comes, as I'm sure it will, I'll resort to the spirits.

I've had some bosses that I worked for for no other reason than that they paid me. Most of the bosses I've had over the years have been good bosses though that I've wanted to do right by. My current boss is the best I've had and the best anyone could wish for. She doesn't act like a boss so much as just one of us, and its not unusual to arrive in the morning to find a bag of sweets on all our desks And she took us paintball fighting last week (closed the company for the full day, and off we went on full pay, all expenses paid). None of us are doing the jobs she couldn't be bothered to do, she works every bit as hard as any of us. She also seems to have managed to only accumulate equally likeable staff and build a proper solid team. Because of all this, I'm inclined not want to take advantage of her good nature, so I wont be slacking or milking it

You misunderstand me Clue...as in milking it i mean ....with Mrs Clue...now i understand you are under the weather and you chaps need TLC bless your cotton socks....right i'm off to burn my brassiere
