    Ah, I see. I'm afraid my days of milking it with the missus ended when little Isaac was born. Now she expects me to look after myself, although I did manage to get the sofa to myself for a couple of hours earlier, and she's made me lots of cups of tea.

      Personal opinion .... you should NOT have gone to work to give your 'ailment' to others ...

      Loli, I am quite shocked that you often go to work 'ill' when you work where you do ...

      Pleased I am here and not there ....

      Too late for that. I am the last of our team to get it.

        It's changed a lot since you were here Vicky, you can get diciplined for being off sick now, even with a doctors note, since health care was put into the hands of private companies, all they care about is profit.

          @Victoria
          With complete respect Victoria....the clients i care for, a common cold are the least of their worries....i go to work rightly or wrongly as i feel any care is better than no care even though no matter how ropey the staff feel who else is going to do it?....what do you do... leave vunerable old folk to their own devices to which they are unable to even feed themselves...Yes i understand exactly where you are coming from but the reality is some one has to care and if it means going to work dosed up and yes there is many a time i could have done to have stayed at home and looked after myself i feel a duty and a want to try to look after them it's just what i'm made to do....

              @Zigs ... I am pleased I am now a Lady of Leisure and out of the rat race because it all seems so out of hand these days.

              @Loli ... I know you have a heart of gold and put your work before yourself ... but do take care!

              @Clue ...The others shouldn't have been there passing on their germs to you ... do hope you are feeling better soon so sending some warmth and sunshine your way ...

                The trouble is, when its a small company with big clients, one person being off makes a big dent in the team's capability. There are only 6 of us working full time in our company. Me being off sick means nearly 17% of the full time staff is off. That's a 17% reduction in the team's capacity. At the other end of the scale, I once worked for one of the biggest companies in the UK. In just our team alone there were 40 of us at its peak (one small team in one small section of one division). One person off sick then would reduce the team's capacity by a mere 2.5%. Its a big difference.
