My latest moan is at my Aga... came to cook breakfast on it to find it cooler than it should be, is constantly on low-fire, can't manually force it to high-fire, usual Aga guy can't come until Monday afternoon, thinks it's the oil supply to it... We've had problems in the past with this, REALLY hoping it's just sooted-up oil-supply pipe to the burner! *fingers crossed*

The heating oil has changed, the glow max or to add treatment to the oil is adived by AGA and Rayburn, it's meant to run better :dunno:

We've not had an oil delivery since November, although since we had inherited problems with water in the tank, we have tank soakers in now, and my husband replaced the old one with a new one yesterday. I mentioned it to him, that maybe it's stirred up some sediment that's eventually made it's way to the Aga (which is the furthest distance from the tank) but he thinks not... I've had it last year when it put itself out but that was when I pushed my luck with servicing and the pipe got clogged up with soot and stopped the oil getting to the burner. It was serviced in October so it shouldn't really be that.

I really should create a whole separate "Ellen's inherited Aga woes" thread... We've been here 15 months and thought we'd finally got to the end of the problems with it! :cry3:

The water will float on top of the oil, so that should not be a problem unless you run the oil to low or run out, Rayburns and AGA can be problem until you get them to run ok, the slighties upset and they're problems, we got a rayburn and it's been problem after problem had it service by pro's and yes more problem's, i now service it myself every 6 months and i'm happy with it now :dbgrtmb:
The heating oil changed a few year's back and will carbon up quicker in the oil burner

You'd be surprised... The Aga guy got 10 gallons out of our tank, it also knocked out the boiler. The previous owners had made a crack in the top of the oil tank by trying to fit a sensor or something and overtightened it... We then had issues a couple of months later with the aga as the water that was already in the pipe had slowly made it's way to the aga, and I had to replace the wicks... I don't use an official aga guy, this guy does all the Agas and oil -fired boilers around us. Ours is 30+ years old and soots up quite quickly. The times I've been tempted to convert it... but then the rare occasions we have a power cut, I'm smiling as I can still make a cuppa

That's why I have a gas cooker :blue thumb:. We get a lot of power cuts (Grrrr!) so can still cook and we can sit in the warm kitchen with the oven on to heat the room up. :)

You're just being picky now!!!!! ;) :heehee:

We, fortunately, have gas, but a lousy electricity supply, no mains drainage and extremely slow broadband.

BT asked villages with poor broadband to register with them for installation of fibre but it was a waste of time . They have told our village that they can't even predict a date for it! Even when the village gets it (won't hold my breath) we're unlikely to get it as there isn't a 'cabinet' anywhere near us.

I'm getting 1.5Mb at the moment - and they keep sending me ads encouraging me to upgrade to (pay for) their 20MB service when they tell me my maximum possible is 2.3Mb :mute:

Phew! I feel better after that :phew: :heehee:
