Last week I ordered a 2tb Western Digital External Drive from Curry's on-line and was told it would arrive the following day.......great!! The courier arrived and I was really pleased........until I open the package to find they'd sent me a WD 2tb internal drive rather than the external drive!!!:gaah: So I phoned them up straight away and spent 25 minutes sorting it out. They tried to imply that I'd ordered the wrong one but I double checked and I had ordered an external drive and I've sent them a copy of my original order. They then arranged for another courier to pick up my still sealed package. To be fair they offered me a refund but I said I wanted the article not a refund, to which the reply was "Not a problem, Sir, we have it in stock. The courier will pick up the wrong order tomorrow and when we receive it we'll send you a Western Digital 2tb external hard drive.
I received an e-mail a couple of days later that they received the wrong order and would be in touch to tell me when the 2tb external hard drive would be sent. Today, 7 days later, I get an e-mail saying "Oh, sorry, we don't have it in stock, would you like another different item or a refund!!!??" :hate-shocked: Well, no, I don't want a different item so I guess I'll phone them tomorrow [on a 0844 number:doh:] and spend another 25 minutes getting my refund. So I've ordered another WD 2tb external hard drive from another company about 20 minutes ago while still "steaming".:snork:
When I ordered the hard drive from Curry's last week it was the cheapest price around but now, after checking for the cheapest price again, I've got it for £10.55p cheaper......so I guess there is a silver lining.:coffee::snork:

Did you try the 'Say No To 0870' website? They have alternative numbers for most companies. I don't know whether this link will come across but it's the one to Currys. If you scroll down there are numbers for their Home Delivery Service.

      http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php

The link didn't go straight to the page, so you would have to go to the link on the page it brings up and click on 'Search to find an alternative number' towards the top left hand side of the page. You can then key in any company.

Thanks, Shiney, I will try that tomorrow. I really get hot under the collar by the way these firms make it as costly to the customer and as profitable to them by only giving 0844 etc numbers to make a complaint or try to solve a problem.:gaah: Plus the fact they guarantee a minimum return on the call by telling you about "calls being recorded for training purposes" and all the other bits of blurb intended to extent the call before even answering it."busted"

The Consumer Association are working hard to make it illegal for helplines to be premium rate lines. They've now got government offices to drop their premium rate lines (tax offices, benefits offices etc.) and it should start taking effect during the year.

Some retailers have also agreed to change their numbers.

Well, lets see how I get on with getting my refund back, lets hope the cost of the call isn't as much as the 2tb External Drive costs. At least I can console myself with the fact that I'm getting the same device from another company for over £10 cheaper:coffee:

I found a direct line to Barclays Bank, they didn't like it :snork:

But my calls to their 0845 number had been costing me a minimum of £2 a go

Would have had to report you

You're not the first to get crap customer service from that lot, and you won't be the last sadly.

I switched mobile provider to Virgin in April. For £24 a month I get unlimited minutes to landline, any mobile and ANY 08 number. Also unlimited texts, unlimited tinterweb and free insurance. Basically, no matter what I do or who I call (in the UK) it's twenty four quid a month. Set for two years too.

Sorry you've had issues with them Armandii. I agree with Longk. Curry's after sales service is a nightmare, I've heard so many issues about them from friends, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!
