Before the internet was the internet, it was DARPANet, a joint venture between NATO countries, mostly the USA, to ensure that there's always be a resilient communications channel in order to retaliate against the soviets in the event of all out war.

Fast forward a few decades and that infrastructure is now privatised for the benefit of you and me, and now it ensures there is a resilient communication channel in the event that you want to watch the olympics:)

Is what you need on here:

It really has picked up now 70+mph, one fence panel has gone (but I reckon it was at least 20 years old) and the other to may have gone by morning at this intensity! :frown:

I'm letting the fire go out, been drawing like nothing else, never heard it whistling before :ouch1:

Don't want a full on fire going if the power goes out and I can't pump the heat round.

Getting a bit drastic here now, hoping the roof tiles stay put, I'm missing a ridge tile from the Christmas storm.
My Acacia tree on the allotment looks like a gonner, the roots have moved in the liquid slurry we call soil these days.

I'm on beer just now, but if it gets any worse I've got a bottle of Bacardi to fall back on.

I must admit last night I checked all my torches, batteries, lanterns, candles and matches in case of a power cut but again here in West Cheshire we seem to be getting off lightly.:dunno::coffee:

My ridge tiles are flapping about like a Badger in a Semaphore lesson.

I didn't think you had any badgers left down there.
Around here we cull them most nights.
Seen lots dead by the sides of the road:frown:

Had a Power outage, (modern speak for a power cut:gaah:) for a while the other night.
It was calm and no rain, so I guess it just blew a fuse somewhere.

Get this storm out the way, and its not sunshine all the way, but it looks like things might get back to normality for a while.
I'm hoping so, I'm fed up with this.

It's making me get jittery so I'm closing down and retreating upstairs - away rfrom the south side. I wish you all well tonight,
