Was fine earlier, then I coughed. Not unusual lately, but this time there was an almighty twang/clunk which I actually heard with my actual ears, and that was it. Couldn't move.

So wife phone the former NHS Direct. The lady on the phone didn't seemed to understand where one's shoulder blades are, so she settled on 'upper back pain like a weight' and immediately sent an ambulance as top priority. A paramedic car turned up, and the very nice paramedic explained that the big ambulance was on its way. I explained to her that I'm not having a heart attack, that I've ripped a muscle, so she did an ECG and blood pressure and all that, listened to my description of what happened, and then agreed with me that I've actually ripped a muscle. Can't work my right arm or shoulder now. I'm glad they took it seriously, because I might have been more poorly than I am, but I do wish they'd give some basic medical training to the operators rather than giving them a Yes/No script to follow. It can't be saving the government any money if untrained staff are sending emergency ambulances out to pulled muscle cases.

      Blimey Clueless,that must be painful:grphg:...

Good job you got checked out though:thumbsup:...i think if the phone operator has any slight doubt of the case they send an Ambulance out regardless to be on the safe side just in case of any come backs but you're right it must cost a fortune but better to be safe than sorry:blue thumb:

      Hope it gets better soon:dbgrtmb:

Its embarrassing is what it is. Lately I seem to be just dropping to bits. Had to call in sick today, which I absolutely hate doing. That will make 7.5 days sick leave in 7 months. My usual average is about 4 or 5 sick days per year.

Jeepers! Time to get back on the fags by the sounds of it! Get well soon.

I got a hernia through a sneezing fit many years ago if that makes you feel any better.

Still really hurts, but as long as I don't use move my right arm too much its not so bad now. The main reason I called in sick is because if I tried to steer Gothilda, even with her power steering, I'd just pull it again and end up in huge pain again. Apart from the pain, I don't think it would be safe to drive with one side randomly packing in. It would be ok if it was a straight line all the way from here to work.

Not a nice thing, when I did something similar, it took me 2 hours to get from the back door step into the house. Hope it eases quickly for you.
