My mobile phone packed last week:gaah:
So I called Virgin who said that they would send me a "return pack" which actually arrived the next day - gobsmacking in itself. Phone packaged up and dropped off to the post office Friday. Today it was returned, all working and new buttons (they were not faulty, just worn) too all done under warranty! Less than a week.
As far as loan phone went they just credited my account a months line rental (I pay £24 a month, everything unlimited and free insurance) so I could buy a cheapie (so I got an old phone out of the draw instead).
So all in all that qualifies as excellent customer service in my book and deserves a big :ThankYou:

        Only the price perhaps.;)

I've been with them for years also, it seems if you are a loyal customer they treat you like an idiot.
Only found out this year, after I told them to poke their tv service, that you are supposed to call them every year and renegotiate the price of it all.
I cant be bothered, they also keep poking adverts in my door addressed to, The Householder, they dont even seem to know which houses are hooked up to them.

And as to that stupid woman who they have answering the phone and telling you which hoops to jump through, before actually talking to a person, that only speaks pidgeon english and is very very polite and starts every sentence with you christian name,........ at this point I usually give up, or forgot why I called.

Other than that Virgin is blood marvelous:wallbanging:

They're alright until you decide to leave them, giving them notice as per your contract, and ensuring that your account is paid up. Then, even if they actually acknowledge that you're in credit and they owe you money, lo and behold, a default appears on your credit record. Brilliant company.

BTW, if anyone wants it I have a Virgin TV box in my hall, I disconnected it well in advance and they said they would send me a bag to put it in and take to a local drop off point.
Not heard a whisper from them since then.

I'll be looking very closely at my next bill to see if they are still charging me.

To be fair, we have had the same nonsense happen with O2 and Orange in the past too. Our mobile contracts are with Virgin at the moment, but we will be leaving them come May as their range of phones is pretty restricted now, and seems to centre around iPhones - I don't want an iPhone! I am not a sheep.

Isn't it strange the different experiences we have.
I used to have tinterweb through BT and it was so unreliable. Six years ago we were left with a connection that at best was steam powered but mostly non-existent. When I tried for a refund I gave up at the point when they reluctantly gave me a tenner off and switched to Virgin. On the few occasions there has been an issue they always offer a partial or full credit on the account. On three of the four occasions it was fixed on the first visit (always within 24 hours of reporting, always within an hour of the appointment time and I always get a call from the engineer to say that he/she is now at the job before mine and should be with me at X time). On the one occasion that they could not repair it (fault at the exchange) the engineer explained that BT were difficult about providing them access so left us with a dongle thingy for every computer in the house - full refund that month.

The very reason that I switched to Virgin from Vodafone. The idiots in Vodafone shop and on the switchboard just kept going on about how ace the camera was on this and what a cool browser that had - they failed to grasp that I do own a computer and a camera (that is ten times better than the crap that they thought was ace). I just wanted a phone with buttons that actually had the capacity to allow me to make phone calls (everyone at work uses my phone as they cannot get signal with their whizzbang camera/browser phones). So I phoned Virgin, spoke to someone in the Philippines (who tried to get me to have a Galaxy something or another) and ten minutes later had a contract and a phone with buttons on its way.

It was the reason that took us to Virgin too @longk - we were with Orange, and wanted a specific phone which they were initially unable to supply but told us it would be in stock in a few weeks......... three months later, the phone arrived into stock, and they wanted £150 for each of them (we have his'n'hers), whereas 'new' customers were getting them free.

We gave them the opportunity to explain, but we got the 'new customers only' line and that was the final straw, so we went to Virgin.

We've been relatively happy with Virgin, and have the TiVo, broadband and phone from them which is top notch (far better than Sky & BT could offer), however the fact that they seem to be almost exclusively iPhone with the odd 'token' Samsung thrown in puts me off; that, and the fact that their signal is pretty dire (despite piggy backing on the T-Mobile/Orange/EE network), and there is not a single mention of 4G anywhere.

In short, I can get a hell of a lot more bang for my buck from someone else, so we are off.

I get really irritated with the Virgin signal here - the only two places to put my phone to avoid signal in my house is the cellar or the microwave! I would turn it off, but I always forget to turn it back on again!
As far as 4G goes, lets get 3G sorted first shall we?

Fair point - however, was part of the reasoning behind going for the 4G spectrum not that the 3G was already struggling capacity wise, and it was hoped that 4G would handle it better?

I have a feeling that our business will be heading to Three in the next month or so - their tariffs look to be about the most competitive, they have the phones we want, and although you start on a normal 3G tariff, they migrate you over to 4G as soon as it is available at no extra cost, and no renewal of contract.

Better still, their contract is one of the only ones I have seen where they name their price for monthly payments and then fix it for the duration of the contract.

I have a feeling that Three are snuck up behind the big boys when they weren't looking, and now are making the big boys look a bit silly.

No idea, but that map is about coverage which is still dire for 3G!!
