Just go with the flow Geezer. :) You've probably already come across some of the banter, it only takes one badly thought out line to set us going and reduces a serious subject to mayhem. :heehee:

What is that yellow thing anyway? It might be "interesting" but not exactly an object of beauty. Goes nice with the ivy, though! ;)

I thought it was Forsythia, but no idea really. I may just cut it anyway. Someone said I can't ask her what I need to, even if I say rear bush. Then she had a fit of the giggles

Shrub is a better word to use Geezer. :) The shrub of your neighbour's that you want to prune is Broom (Cytisus).

Asking if I can prune your shrub sounds funny
When you prune broom, do you do it in a 'sweep'ing motion?[/QUOTE]

Ask them if you can prune their broom then, they'll probably think you want to give their 'sweeper' a haircut. :heehee:

I found pruning broom made it grow more, I had to dig it out eventually as it was taking over the entrance to my drive. I don't know what you mean by a sweeping motion. Cut back the individual stems with secateurs or pruners trying to keep some shape to the SHRUB.
