    BBC article

Lord Rennard apologises, after all the nonsense that went on with regard to this last year, and now he chooses to apologise 'for the good of the party'

Sorry pal, your party is currently in the throes of tearing itself to bits, and no apology from you is going to make it any better. Indeed, if anything it will only bring back into full, sharp focus what a bunch of juvenile, uncontrolled, egotistical eejits the whole party are.

I haven't been following the story but ... maybe he was set up? which is why he has prevaricated for so long, and given the damage to the party has been now been told to apologise regardless.

His apology, which I have heard (even though not following the story), didn't sound to me like someone apologising for doing anything wrong (so either he didn't, or he did and he is a plonker)

But it did leave me thinking that maybe he didn't do anything wrong (as would be judged by you and I ... rather than him, or them!)

There was no evidence to prove he did anything wrong, you only have to accidentally nudge someone these days to be accused of abuse!!!!!

There have been a number of high profile acquittals in the wake of the Jimmy Saville case (no idea if they were guilty, but waged a crafty court case - either way they have been found not guilty, so that's how they are), and the Pleb-gate affair which seems to paint the policemen involved as liars with a specific agenda to cause personal career damage ... no idea which side to believe, but I prefer not to "assume" any more ... particularly not to assume that the Newspapers are printing an unslanted view of the truth!!

The media companies, which include the BBC, have their own political agenda. I find it best to just completely ignore the trivial rubbish and only take note of the stuff that matters.

Plebgate? I couldn't care less. Seems a petty argument between some petty coppers and some petty politicians. In the private sector, such arguments would end up, possibly, if they dragged on for long enough, with the two factions being called into an office for a private telling off, maybe marked down a bit in an annual appraisal, and that would be the end of that. Sexist comments? Maybe someone would get sacked if it was serious, but most likely the perpetrators colleagues would just tell the perpetrator to apologise if they don't want bogies in their cuppas. What I'm trying to say is, without intending to trivialise anything, these matters are usually sorted out internally and that's the end of it.

Now if its about immigration and its effects (positive or negative or neutral) on public services and infrastructure, or war, or the environment, then its important and worth listening too.

An old man apologising publicly for something that should have been sorted internally, means nothing to me.
