I'm sure most gardeners feel the same as me when it comes to dryers and clothes lines. They get in the way and are an eyesore.

I used to have a washing line we first moved here and it was really useful. However it was always in the way and proved to be a nuisance for me and so got rid of it last year. I quickly realised that we simply couldn't function without a dryer of some sorts and so started to design out a new dryer to meet our needs.

This dryer would have to hold a lot of washing, while at the same time not take up any space and also not be too visible when not in use.

This is what I came up with. Its operated by pulleys and a length of ripe and cost roughly £20 to build. Also the rungs are made from my neighbour's Stargate she was throwing out.

(You can see that the dryer is still visible because I left all the pegs on as I need to build a box to put them in.)

Brilliant Jane :) I'm in the same boat, all my washing has to dry naturally [IMG]

Good idea to use a Stargate [IMG] Just don't let the Gou'auld know about it :yikes:

:heehee: My phone's fault. I must stop making threads on it.

When I first found the stairgate I texted Mr Jane saying "I've found a stargate!" and he wonder what I had taken :heehee:

Indoor, rather then Outdoor, so not relevant in this context, but in case of interest, we have a couple of these in our utility room:

I bought the cast iron bits, and the pulleys and cord, as a "kit" off eBay, and then got some batons of a length that suited our room from the local Shed.

Here's a link with all the gen, but I have no idea if their price is competitive?, in case of interest:

they seem to have every conceivable variation, and component/spare part :)
