I had to look that up - could be fun!

Have you seen Priscilla Queen Of The Desert? Worth it for Terrance Stamp in drag alone!

We have seen one film this year (an increase in frequency for us :heehee:) and I don't expect that any of you have seen it.

It's called "Downhill" and only came out in May. It's not a gripping adventure, there's no love theme, it's not particularly funny, no special effects and no unusual ending - but we enjoyed it.

This critique explains it very well

            http://www.cine-vue.com/2014/05/film-review-downhill.html

What we did enjoy in particular was the cinema in which we saw it. It's over 100 years old and hasn't had much done to it in the intervening years - although the seats were extremely comfortable and there was plenty of legroom in all the seats. It's the typical old-fashioned fleapit :) but very welcoming. There was an extremely pleasant girl at the cash desk who also sold the refreshments. She was also the projectionist :blue thumb:. In fact, she was the only member of staff on the premises.

In the entrance hall (not much more than 15ft from the door to the cash desk) was a filter coffee machine, with lovely coffee, and a stack of clean china cups for you to help yourself - no charge :dbgrtmb:. You were able to take the coffee into the auditorium with you and could pop out, any time you wished, to get more.

            Well done Keswick Alhambra :yay:

Apologies Longk for poaching here but I would also like to mention Battle's last Wednesday in the month film in the memorial Hall. Nothing plush but good sound and screen size. Tickets £2 + a donation ( optional but £3 suggested) and a glass of red or white wine for £2 per glass. The film for August is the Book Thief,

That's not poaching @Jenny namaste . Independant cinemas and events need all the support that they can get.

I saw a film with a great car chase in it, and I think DeNiro was in that.
Very good film. I recommend it, but would probably suit the boys more.

Another good film I watched recently was 'Dresden'. This would suit both sexes, as its very much a WWII love story. I loved it. :)

Was it as good as the car chase in Steve McQueen's film 'Bullitt'?

There are some good car chases in the film "The Driver" with Ryan O Neal.
