The man makes a lot of very valid points. There are a few bits I disagree with, but generally he makes sense. Apart from one MAHOOSIVE flaw in his logic. That is the assumption that a Yes vote will give power to the ordinary masses as opposed to bankers and politicians and the likes. I.e. if Scotland votes Yes, still the ordinary people will be controlled by an elite minority who couldn't give a stuff about them. As part of the UK, the majority will still be under the thumbs of the elite, but the difference is 70 million people can make more noise than 5 million can.

For the love of dog, just hurry up and get this painful process out of the ruddy way.

Whichever way the vote goes, it's already caused a massive rift in Scotland. If they vote for independence then they won't have the English to rail against any more, so the yes campaign and the no campaign can whinge about each other.

And Salmond and Sturgeon will be two of those elite. Shudder.

Scotland can use the pound if they want to but it won't be backed by the Bank of England. They can't have it both ways - ie have their independence but keep the bits of British stuff they pick and choose. We can't have a situation where, if it went belly up, we'd have to bail them out like the Eurozone countries had to do with Ireland, Greece, etc.

I did say in a previous post that I think that everyone in the British Isles should have a vote on what happens to their country.Even though at this moment in time they no longer live in the country of their birth doesn't mean to say that they might go back there to live.

I have friends in the village who were born and bred in Scotland but live here to work and they are not allowed to vote but as the papers said the other day the 130,000 Europeans who live there can vote.

There are a lot of plastic jocks in Corby that would probably like to vote even through they have never set foot in the country.

I personally think they will get the yes vote because there are too many youngsters that have been brain washed in thinking the Yes vote will be the right way to go so in one way I can see Scotland getting its independence.

Australia and NZ had their own versions of the GB pound (with different values) and they both changed the name to dollar following decimilisation in the 60's.

EDIT AT 07:00 Voting has started, results in about 24hrs. If it's No then it'll all be over in several weeks (hopefully), if Yes it will drag on for seversl years or more.

Well, we don't have to follow broadcasting rules that all discussion is banned during the period of the voting.

      A great pity! :heehee:

We can continue to say as many nasty things about the 'Yes' and 'No' campaigns as we wish (in a nice way, of course) :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Breaking news, No Campaigners accused of being negative!

Wasn't it obvious to him that a NO campaign is supposed to be negative?

Oh, Poo!!! :heehee: I thought he may have mentioned me. :roflol: When the show was in the West End I was at the Technical and the Dress Rehearsal (1958) and saw it a couple of dozen times in the first few years it was on. I was allowed free tickets :blue thumb: so saw every change of cast. He was a very nice man to talk to. :dbgrtmb:

Does anyone know why voting isn't done electronically now? perhaps vote online for those that prefer.

No electronic trail to follow when they rig the voting.

I have wondered that too - would cut down the time counting at least. Maybe its security concerns of some sort or other?
