    Hi
My roses flower/bloom well but pretty much as soon as they bloom they start to loose their leaves

Is it that the roses are diseased or is it just that variety of them are just delicate?

If they diseased what do I need to treat them with
    Thanks

Hi Passport I shouldn't worry unduly my friend,it could be they they need watering because they are stressed,or they are just behaving naturally because there is to much foliage,I have noticed that they are very near the wall it could be that the rose bush trying to create better cooling airflow for itself. By dropping some of its foliage, the rose bush increases the open area for air to circulate around its canes in an effort to cool down, are the leaves turning yellow before they drop, hope this is of some help to you:smile:

Thanks WiseOwl for the reply and information

I guess I just leave them for rest of the years flowering season and then give them a good pruning back next March before the start growing - right?

Your plants look healthy and I can't see any disease on the leaves. Some varieties don't hold their petals as well as others but you should at least get a couple of weeks from each individual bloom. Roses are hungry and thirsty shrubs and should be fed during the growing/flowering season a couple of times but not later than July/August, it's also a good idea to give them a mulch of either horse manure or compost at the start of the season, March/ April time. I can no longer handle the weight of manure so use chicken manure pellets instead, they are just as good.

Watering with tap water should be done at the base of the plants, I've found that petals drop when they've been watered with a hose or sprinkler over the blooms. Dead head your roses regularly to keep fresh buds forming too. :)
