    Hi All,

Looking at my back garden in January I could do with 3 conifers or the like to give it more colour / form for the winter any ideas which would be useful ....

the 3 spots I have in mind are full sun & half shade, space would be about 6 feet 2 meters roughly and 4 feet .

10 feet max for two of them and taller for the larger space

Any suggestions welcomed especially varieties that have done well for you

    Thuja Occidentalis 'Rheihngold'
Juniper 'Blue star' and Juniper Gold Lace give good colour through the winter and would grow well in those situations once established:thumbsup:

I've got that one! :hapydancsmil: I love it :wub2: - didn't like to suggest it to @Spruce because I've only had it a couple of years so don't feel I have 'the knowledge' but now you've said it first: yes, it's lovely.

The 'Blue Star' Juniper is nice too.

I can't find my picture of my 'Gold Lace ' Juniper..it's since been removed as it got too big, around 10ft across but lowish growing.I was sorry to see it go ,I should have kept it in check:doh: it did take many years to get to that size.

Healthy specimens you have there @Lolimac but now I'm doubting I have the "Rheihngold
I'll have to double check my files and see which variety I have (because it doesn't quite look like yours  - it's definitely a Thuja Occidentalis of some sort though  .... I'll be back ..... )

I think you are correct Loli ... I've located the note I made about mine when I bought it and it seems mine is a "Yellow Ribbon". It's darker than yours and has yellow running through it.
Haven't got any decent pictures of it at the moment but I'll have to sort one out. It's darker than yours and has yellow running through it.
