I found two trees I really like so took some nuts from the ground at both sites. One of the trees is massive and majestic, the squirrels love it. The second smaller nut comes from a medium size tree.
Sadly I noticed holes in the bigger of the nuts, so I may have to grow using a cutting. Would it be possible?
    Thanks. IMAG0043.jpg IMAG0044.jpg

You have a Sweet Chestnut on the left and a Beech on the right.

Beech will get very large left unpruned.

From the nut it might be OK, depends what's been eaten inside. Can you go back and find some more to increase your chances? Don't molly coddle them when sowing, they are tough hardy trees and even the seedlings will object to too much warmth at this time of year.
