Nice though, I like it. And it'll stop me getting them mixed up with my euros when my bag is in its usual disorganised state

Now, now - that doesn't fit in with the latest guidelines of government idea descriptions - the correct answer is "And it will stimulate the economy and provide jobs to ensure that the existing infrastructure of trolleys, parking meters and vending machines are brought up to date to be able to accept the new coin".............

Yeah, its going to cause chaos and cost a bloomin' packet

Perhaps this thread should be in the "Identification" forum? :)

I remember the chaos/cost for cash registers when we changed from Imperial to Decimal. They said, then, that there would be a smooth transition :rolleyespink:.

It was OK for us. We had a mechanical cash register where the price popped up in a little window. We just stuck little bits of paper over the Imperial numbers with the Decimal numbers written on them. No problem! :heehee:

Shouldn't do as it will be the same size (just with bits missing) and can still roll in a slot

I assume the the round ones will be withdrawn.
Along with all the millions of counterfeit ones.

Its the governments way of paying off the national debt.
Loads of money they never really had.

It will be a financial disaster for us as our 10 (another 2 attached to purses/wallets) round 'trolley tokens' will become unusable and I'll have to spend a couple of days sourcing/cutting/filling bits of metal sheet to replace them.

Are we sure this is not the same size as the old pound coin?

Vending and Fruit Machines etc:- It used to be very expensive when coinage changed as they were mainly mechanical and magnets, but since 1990 They are now electronic, you just need to tweak a couple of sensors, and it will accept any new coinage it has been set for
Within the coin mech there are also separation channels, so coins are routed, so as to be able to give change ie several store hoppers

Our local Morrisons have disabled the coin machine on the trolleys so you can just wheel the trolley away to do your shopping:coffee::snork:
