Worried about a Rose Bush

Would I be right @wiseowl that it should be watered so the soil doesn't dry out?

I've done this many times with favourite plants that have failed ,dug them up,shuvved them in a corner ,stopped fretting over them and admitted defeat but still had to give them just one last chance....got everything crossed for this one @weas3l

Also you could try cutting a stem off about 8" long and stick it in the ground,worth a try

 

Just a quick update with regards to this rose. It has failed spectacularly to produce any roots or foliage. I followed your instructions @wiseowl to the letter and I believe that the rose has died completely. I have tried to tell my mother that it's time to consign it to the garden waste bin but she refuses to accept that the plant has died.

I remember my dad buying half a dozen thorny dead looking twigs in plastic bags with a handful of dry compost and stapled cardboard labels from Woolworths in the late 60's.

He stood them in a bucket of water for a day or so and then planted them. To my amazement they all grew and turned out to be roses. He still has them now.
